Shrapnel is a simple but effective weapon effect in Once Human that can shred targets to bits by causing one bullet to deal multiple instances of damage. However, players who want to get the most out of this effect will need to use mods like Shrapnel Souvenir to patch some potential holes in their builds.

Shrapnel Souvenir is a mod designed to keep Once Human's Shrapnel builds firing for as long as the enemy is still standing. If not having to reload sounds appealing to you, then here's how you can get this mod for yourself.

How To Farm The Shrapnel Souvenir Mod In Once Human

There are a few ways to get the Shrapnel Souvenir mod. The first one that many players can do is to fight the Shadow Hound boss in Chalk Peak. Fighting this boss in Hard or Pro difficulty has the best chance to yield gold mods. Make sure to use your Controllers in Once Human to maximize loot drops from chests that use them.

Prime Wars are also great for farming mods. This activity usually rewards players with mods that have keyword-related attributes, such as Crit DMG or Weakspot DMG. If you end up getting a Shrapnel Souvenir mod here, then there's a good chance that it will have excellent stats for the build you want to make.

Opening Weapon Crates can potentially yield the Shrapnel Souvenir mod, but considering how large the item pool is for these crates, the odds of getting any specific mod is slim. Still, if you find yourself exploring locations in Red Sands or Blackheart, or if you find any crates inside Once Human's Securement Silos, do be sure to open them.

Mod Conversion

If you're trying to get a version of Shrapnel Souvenir that has the right substats, then Mod Conversion is the way to go. This feature consumes six unwanted mods and turns them into a single new mod of the same rarity. You can pick what mod you get from this process, but you must first get enough copies of the mod you want before you can start converting other mods into it.

To do this, go to the Mods menu, and click on the Mod Conversion button on the right side of the screen. Pick Shrapnel Souvenir from the list of mods, then select any six mods you want to use as fodder. Press the Exchange button (assuming you have the Energy Links to spare), and the mod will be added to your inventory.

What Does Shrapnel Souvenir Do?

Shrapnel Souvenir restores 1 bullet to your magazine whenever Shrapnel hits a weakspot. For those who don't know, Shrapnel procs can hit enemy weakspots, but only if the bullet that triggered them hits some other part of a target's body. For example, if you want Shrapnel to hit a player's head, you must shoot them in the chest or the limbs. This is why Shrapnel builds can work with the Fateful Strike mod, which prevents bullets from directly dealing weakspot damage.

Instead of increasing your damage, this mod reduces your DPS downtime by basically extending your magazine. You'll eventually run out of bullets if Shrapnel fails to hit a weakspot, but until then, you can greatly increase the effective magazine size of weapons like Once Human's SOCR Last Valor with this mod alone.
