Once Human is filled with quests both long and short, and while the former features some of the game's most interesting stories, the latter is usually there just to provide players with quick and easy EXP and resources. Materials Matter is a very short quest that can be finished as soon as it starts, and completing it makes the early game grind go by ever so slightly faster.

While Materials Matter is nowhere near as confusing as some Once Human side content like Lost in Madness, some people may find themselves wondering why they can't seem to complete this quest. Here's a quick overview covering the things you need to do to finish it.

The Stun Baton is one of the most reliable melee weapons in Once Human, and it's fairly easy to get too.

  1. Speak with Duke Farton.
  2. Give Duke some Bronze Ingots and Glass.
  3. Speak with Duke again to complete the quest.

Players can start this sidequest by looking for an NPC named Duke Farton by the road southeast of Meyer's Market. He can be found near the flooded street leading to the Harborside area of Once Human.

The goal in Material Matters is to get some building materials for Duke. Specifically, we'll need five Bronze Ingots and five units of Glass. Both of these are fairly cheap to make. If you have some in your inventory, you can give the materials to Duke immediately after starting the quest. Otherwise, go back home and get to crafting.

Bronze Ingots (not to be confused with Copper Ingots) are made by smelting Copper and Tin together in a furnace. The Broken Delta region is brimming with both of these metals. Run around the vicinity of Meyer's Market, and you should get more than enough Tin and Copper for the quest and for early gear upgrades in Once Human.

Glass is also made in a furnace. All you need is some Gravel and some Charcoal to fuel your furnace with. If you have an Electric Furnace, you won't need any more coal for smelting materials, so try to get one up as soon as possible.

After you give Duke the materials he asked for, he'll reward you with a bunch of EXP, Energy Links, Stellar Planula, and a low-level Eclipse Cortex. The latter is especially useful, as it is one of the main sources of Starchrom in Once Human. The extra Stellar Planula from the quest is also quite valuable, since the Morphics vendor found in settlements sells Starchrom crates, Controllers, and weapon attachments.
