As your base in Once Human grows and evolves, so does your need for advanced resources and energy. Electricity is the most important resource you need, as it powers everything from production facilities to defensive structures. One of the most efficient ways to generate power is by using a
Hydraulic Generator.
Hydraulic Generators are a must-have for your base, and thankfully they’re easy enough to set up. By strategically placing this structure near a water source, you can tap into renewable energy to keep your base running smoothly. Here’s how you can unlock and use the Hydraulic Generators in Once Human.

If you're struggling to find adhesive in Once Human, this guide can help.
How to Unlock and Use a Hydraulic Generator
Before you can use the Hydraulic Generator, you’ll need to unlock the formula for it and build it. To do this, you need to reach Tier 4 of the Logistics category in the Memetics Tree and unlock the Hydraulic Generators Memetic. You can unlock the blueprint with 7 Ciphers, 2,000 Energy Links, and the Electric Kit Memetic.
Once unlocked, you’ll need to collect the following materials to build the Hydraulic Generator:
- 100x Aluminum Ingots
- 50x Logs
- 15x Electronic Parts
- 15x Special Parts
- 15x Engineering Plastic
- 5x Fuses
After you’ve collected everything you need, you can craft the Hydraulic Generator via your Build Menu and place it at your base.
How to Use Hydraulic Generator
Hydraulic Generators come in handy when you don’t have enough sunlight to rely on your Solar Generators to produce electricity. Since these generators harness the energy of running water to generate electricity, they need to be placed near a flowing water source.
The generator itself is placed on land, while its turbine component needs to be submerged in a body of flowing water, such as a river or lake. As such, you need to position your base at the edge of the water body.
If this placement does not work for you the first time, experiment with different positions to find the best spot for your turbine. A neat trick is to place the Generator while your Meta Human is standing in the water.
A Hydraulic Generator should not be placed too close to another Hydraulic Generator, or they will stop working.
Once correctly positioned, the generator will start producing electricity. Press X to enter build mode and connect the wires to your base’s Circuit Modules. You can also select the facilities you wish to be powered by the Hydraulic Generator.
