The LEA Research Lab is the hardest challenge in Once Human so far. It's an almost raid-like experience with unique mechanics that none of the other dungeons in the game have. It's a ton of fun, but it also requires players to have decent gear and a lot of supplies on hand.
Players who want to stress test their builds or farm weapon mods in Once Human can look forward to delving into the LEA Research Lab. However, this is a level 60 endgame activity, and if you're not quite sure why you can't enter the lab yet, here's what you need to do.

Flame Essence is an ideal Deviation for players aiming to boost the efficiency of their Electric Furnace in Once Human. Here’s how to obtain it!
How To Unlock The LEA Research Lab In Once Human
To get inside the LEA Research Lab, the server you're on must reach Phase 4. This dungeon is part of the game's main quest, so it's likely that players will reach the part where they need to enter the LEA Research Labs even though it's still unavailable. Considering how Once Human's seasons work, players will likely have to wait again for the fourth phase after new season.
For those who are wondering, the quest to enter the LEA Research Lab comes later into Mary's storyline. However, you don't need to reach this point in the storyline if you want to make an attempt. If you're at least level 50 (or very confident in your skills and build), you can waltz straight into the labs without completing Mary's quests. If the game refuses to let you in, then you may need to beat Once Human's Forsaken Giant boss first.
The LEA Research Lab is basically a more complicated Securement Silo with mechanics that players must adapt to. You can't just run through the major encounters here — you need to figure out how the dungeon's mechanics work in order to proceed to the next area. Thankfully, the encounters are fairly simple.
LEA Research Lab Mechanics
The game will teach you all the mechanics you need to know in order to clear the dungeon as you go. The two mechanics in this dungeon are:
- Fire and Ice Securement Containers
- Stardust Orbs and Spores
In most encounters, there will be large Securement Containers colored either red or blue, representing fire and ice. Then, there will be tall Glutton Deviants with either red or blue shields. Players will need to defeat these enemies while standing near the Securement Container matching the Deviant's shield color. Doing so will whisk the Deviant away inside the container upon death. This mechanic is present in the intro of the dungeon and both of its boss fights.
The second mechanic is much simpler. Whenever you defeat the flying Disciple Deviants, they will drop crystalized Stardust orbs. Pick them up, and throw them at nearby Spore clusters to destroy them. This mechanic is present in the final boss fight and the encounter prior to that. In the boss fight, this mechanic is combined with the first one.
Lesser enemies will swarm players during the combat encounters here, so it's ideal to have one or two players on add-clear duty while the rest focus on completing mechanics and dealing DPS to the boss. Once Human's Shrapnel build is very good at shredding through thick health bars, but in practice, any build with the right mods and stats can be just as strong. Each successful encounter will reward players with loot crates that may contain weapon and armor mods, Energy Links, and other resources.
