It's no surprise that progressing through Once Human is quite the grind, as the game features tons of resources and gear that players need to acquire to improve their chances of survival. Leveling up is one of the core ways players progress through the game, and the main incentive for leveling up is to acquire Meme Points to gain better Memetics through the Cradle. However, the game's progression system is deeper than that, as players may have noticed that certain areas on the map recommend reaching a certain level before exploring them.

Leveling up in Once Human is a surefire way to become better equipped for battling tougher enemies and traversing dangerous high-level areas. While most players may gravitate to improving their character's level, they can also level up their Battle Pass alongside their character, granting them opportunities to acquire cosmetics and essential resources like Stardust Source and Starchrom. From completing commissions to beating tough enemies, here are some of the best ways to level up fast in Once Human!

Completing Commissions

Weekly Commissions are, without a doubt, one of the simplest and easiest ways to acquire a regular supply of EXP for the player's character in Once Human. Players can access the Commission Board menu by following these steps:

  • Hold Tab and select Summon V.
  • Interact with V and select View Commissions.

From here, players can select up to five of the eight commissions per Commission Board, each granting a hefty sum of EXP upon completion, along with other rewards such as Controllers and Energy Links. Most commissions are relatively simple to complete and can often be finished in a couple of gameplay sessions with minimal effort. Additionally, once players complete five of the eight available commissions on a single Commission Board, they receive an additional EXP reward.

Previous weekly Commission Boards will also remain available for players to complete throughout a single season, allowing new and casual players to progress through multiple Commission Boards fairly quickly. Players also have the option to swap out a commission by refreshing it, with six free refreshes being available for each Commission Board. This gives players ample opportunities to gather plenty of EXP in no time, especially if they are selecting five of the easiest commissions available.

Progressing Through The Journey

Many players may already be aware that progressing through the Journey can yield a steady supply of Starchrom, but it just so happens that the various Journey tasks also offer a bountiful amount of EXP and Battle Pass EXP. The Journey features several individual Journeys that players can work through, each comprised of several tasks that yield an EXP reward upon completion.

Additionally, players receive an extra sum of EXP upon completing every task in a Journey. Much like the commissions, the Journey tasks are relatively straightforward but do not have to be activated before completion — meaning it is entirely possible many players may find they have completed some without even realizing it. To open up the Journey menu and claim its rewards, simply press the J Key.

Completing Side Tasks

The next major method for obtaining EXP and Battlepass EXP fast is by completing side tasks. Side tasks are essentially side quests that players can find throughout Once Human's open world, and while they are entirely optional to complete, working through them can be a surefire way to level up quickly.

Each side task in Once Human can only be completed once, but with the sheer abundance of side tasks out there and the fact that most can be completed in a matter of minutes, there really is no reason not to take them on. Aside from EXP, side tasks also yield other lucrative rewards, like Energy Links, Stellar Planula, and Eclipse Cortex.

For players unsure of what side tasks they should start with, some early game options they can consider include "Boy Just Wanna Have Fun" and "A Gift Overdue."

Defeating Rift Entities

For players looking to take on powerful bosses, battling Once Human's Rift Entities can be a surefire way to climb up the ranks and acquire lots of EXP. Rift Entities are usually taken on by heading to Monoliths, which can be opened up once players activate a certain number of Rift Anchors in each region. However, Rift Entities can also be taken on by participating in a Prime War event, which will be marked on the map.

Though both activities reward their own levels of EXP, Monolith Entities are much more solo-friendly, whereas Prime Wars are heavily reliant on getting other players of the server involved. Just be sure to have the best weapons available on hand before heading to either one. Aside from EXP, defeating Rift Entities can also yield additional rewards, such as Weapon Mod Parts, Stardust Source, and much more.

Defeating Enemies

Another simple yet effective way to garner lots of EXP is to simply defeat enemies within the world. All enemies in Once Human award players with EXP when defeated, and this EXP award can be maximized by defeating higher-level enemies in high-level regions — especially if the enemy happens to be an Elite-type.

The most straightforward way players can farm a lot of enemy eliminations is by heading to areas like Chalk Peak and Red Sands, as enemies from the 35-level range and above offer a decent amount of EXP. Clearing Securement Silos is also a good strategy for garnering lots of enemy eliminations, as the enemies within a silo respawn much faster. For players who haven't reached either region yet, Securement Silos available in the lower-level regions can still be a great means to garner EXP early on, though they do not yield as high of an EXP reward.
