Even though Once Human is mainly a survival game, there’s more to do besides just trying to stay alive. You can tame pets, set up your own farm, fight bosses, and participate in public events to win a ton of rewards. Interestingly, you can use a special item called Controllers to increase the rewards you can earn.
Since they can give a quick boost to the loot drops, you should try to collect as many Controllers as possible. If you’re wondering how to get Controllers, this guide will show you the different ways you can farm them.
Once Human: Best Mods For Power Surge
A Power Surge build is very capable in Once Human, but very dependent on the right mix of mods. These are the best for such a build.
How To Get Controllers In Once Human
As you progress through Once Human’s main storyline and complete tasks and missions, you’ll passively earn Controllers. However, if you want to get more of them quickly, you can focus on completing the following activities:
Complete V’s Commissions
You can get Controllers by summoning V and completing your weekly Commissions. To do so, follow the steps below:
- Press the Tab key to open the menu, then select “Summon V.”
- Once V is summoned, press F to interact with him and select “View Commissions.”
- Next, you'll see a list of available weekly commissions. There are usually up to five commissions available each week. To start a commission, simply click on it.
Completing each commission will reward you with four Controllers. You can keep track of your active commissions via the Tasks tab on your map. Examples of commissions include opening storage crates and crafting a set amount of ammo.
You can also earn commissions by completing various tasks in the Journey system. These simple tasks can be completed before the season ends.
Open Accessory Boxes
There are a lot of Accessory Boxes scattered around the map that hold various accessories for your meta. These accessories can enhance your character's abilities or give you new weapons. You can also find Controllers inside these boxes, so make sure you loot them any chance you get.
Participate In Public Crisis Events
Public Crisis Events are in-game events that offer various rewards, including Controllers. You can earn a maximum of three Controllers per day by participating in these events.
To find which events are active near you, open the map and press X to view a list of current events. From the list of options, select the ones with a red eye icon to find an active Crisis Event. Go to that location either by directly teleporting or traveling using your vehicle.
Make sure to check if a Public Crisis Event offers a Controller as a reward by hovering over the event on your map and reading the event details. Not all Crisis Events will reward you with a Controller.
Purchase From Vendors
Lastly, if you’re really in need of a Controller, you can purchase them from two vendors, Nisa and Severin VII-S2401. These two NPCs are found in most of the neutral settlements and sell Controllers for different currencies.
To purchase Controllers from Nisa, you'll need Sproutlets in Once Human. A Controller costs 100 Sproutlets, meaning you'll need 2000 Sproutlets to buy all of her seasonal stock. On the other hand, you can buy Controllers from Severin using Stellar Planulas. Each Controller from Severin costs two Stellar Planulas, making the total cost 40 Stellar Planulas for his entire stock.
How To Use Controllers In Once Human
Controllers are used to boost the rewards you win from bosses and Prime Wars in Once Human. To use one, approach the Reward Vessel where your loot is stored and press and hold the 'F' key to activate your Controller and claim the maximum rewards.
Even if you don’t use a Controller, you’ll still receive rewards, but they will be significantly less than what you could get if you had used a Controller.
