Hence, their abundance as a valuable item in your armory cannot be stressed enough.

Unlocking the Forging Techniques Memetic

Apart from accumulating materials that are necessary to craft Steel Ingots, firstly, you must unlock Forging Techniques memetic (in particular for Steel Ingots). It is present in the 3rd tab under Infrastructure.

Luckily enough, you do not need to grind or show heavy progression in Once Human to unlock the Forging Techniques—having the Bronze Pickaxes Memetic will get the job done.

How to Craft the Bronze Pickaxe in Once Human

Bronze Pickaxe is an essential tool for mining Iron ores and, in turn, producing Steel Ingots. They come in handy in other situations as well. To craft the Bronze Pickaxe, you will need the following resources:

2x Hide	These can be accumulated from animals, primarily by hunting them.
5x Log	These can be accumulated by chopping down trees in the wild.
7x Bronze Ingots	This can be crafted using the 5x Tin Ore, 3x Copper Ores and 1 unit of Charcoal. Tin Ores are mainly found in areas like the Dayton Wetlands and the Broken Delta.

Where to Find Iron Ores

Luckily, Iron Ores aren't as rare as Silver and can be easily found in multiple locations, including the Highlands, the Ransacked Camps, and the Overlook Lumberyard.

The best location to locate Iron Ore is the Iron River, which, as the name suggests, is abundant in iron-containing components. The area is ranked level-28, meaning that the enemies present there are not only relatively stronger but harder to defeat as well. Hence, if you plan to move towards the Iron River and mine the Iron Ores, make it quick, complete quests (if any), and leave as soon as possible.

Using the Fast Travel in Iron Rivers is a viable option to head back to your base and start crafting the Steel Ingots.

Alternatively, you can take advantage of The Digby Boy’s abilities to get your hands on various Ores in the game.

How to Craft Steel Ingots

Once you reach your base, use the Furnace or Electrical Furnace to start making the Steel Ingots. To do so, however, obtain Charcoal through Wood which would already be present in the Furnace. Then, start the process of smelting the Steel Ingots using 5x Iron Ores and 1 Unit of Charcoal.

If you use Electric Furnace, you don't need any Charcoal to craft Steel Ingots.
