There are many different side quests in Once Human, and some of them can get really weird. Carnival of Doom is one such quest — instead of being yet another fetch or kill mission, this one literally abducts you and forces you into a never-ending game against a psychopath.

Carnival of Doom isn't the hardest mission in the game, but if you missed some important queues, you'll likely find yourself stuck in it. If you're itching to go back to your usual Once Human routine of exploring POIs and scavenging materials, here's a quick guide on how to finish this optional quest.

How To Start The Carnival Of Doom Quest In Once Human

Location of the Junkyard POI in Once Human
Once Human Junkyard POI location

The Carnival of Doom is located in the south end of the map, inside the Junkyard POI. This area is occupied by Rosetta soldiers, so prepare for a gunfight before going in. Carnival of Doom is a level 10 quest in a level 19 zone, so consider upgrading your weapons in Once Human first before coming to this area.

Once you reach the Junkyard, head to the train depot in the middle. You'll see a group of Rosetta soldiers playing a game together. Get rid of them, then interact with the revolver on one of the crates to start the quest.

Interacting with the revolver will teleport you to a separate dimension, much like how the box of meds did during the Dayton Hospital incident in Once Human. However, instead of an alternate version of the train depot, you'll get whisked away into a giant playroom with five other people and Chuckles, a clown who really wants to play Russian Roulette. After the short cutscene, he'll set you free, and you begin plotting your escape.

In order to get out of the playroom, you need to win against Chuckle in a game of Russian Roulette. However, the game is rigged, and you'll lose every time you try. To escape, do the following:

  1. Press Q to scan the area.
  2. Follow the cable.
  3. Tell Chuckles you need some fresh air.
  4. Go through the big red door.
  5. Defeat the guy at the end of the hallway.
  6. Interact with the cheating machine.
  7. Challenge Chuckles.

Weapons are disabled during this quest, but you can still use melee attacks when fighting Chuckles' henchman. Alternatively, you can use a combat deviation to kill him quickly.

It turns out, Chuckles has a henchman operating some sort of machine that affects the gun used for the game. With the machine working in your favor, you can now walk back up to Chuckles and shoot him with the revolver. He'll turn into a Voodoo Doll deviation, which you can capture and use for yourself.

Once the game is done, you'll get teleported back to the Junkyard. There's a pretty good chance that the Rosetta soldiers guarding the deviant revolver will have already respawned, so be ready to fight again.
