Once Human is a horror survival game that is free to play. Both PvE and PvP servers are available, and the game progresses across a 6-phase, 6-week season. Players who don’t want to play for the monthly battle pass still have access to the entire game, and most cash shop items are purely cosmetic.
Once Human: 8 Best Hunting Locations
Hunting animals is key to finding upgrade resources in Once Human, making these hunting locations ideal spots to revisit during a playthrough.
Shotguns are powerful, short-range weapons in this survival shooter. Due to the limited range, they are generally not the best option to use as a primary weapon. However, in certain circumstances, they can make excellent backup, secondary weapons for use in specific situations such as indoors, or in PvP combat at close range.
5 DBSG - Dual Fury
High Damage Double Barreled Shotgun
- How to get: Blueprint can be won from Wish Machine.
-
Specials:
- The last shot from a magazine inflicts burn, if all projectiles hit an additional stack of burn is triggered.
- After hitting an enemy with all projectiles 4 times, enter a special burn state, with the player losing HP slowly, but gaining attack +20%, and vulnerability +10% for 8 seconds.
- Hitting enemies affected by burn with all projectiles from a shotgun shell has a 50% chance of reloading 1 shell for free.
-
Suggested weapon mods:
- Flame Resonance
- Burning Wrath
The DBSG -
Dual Fury is a double-barreled shotgun, with the general limitations of such a weapon, such as slow reload and short range. However, if a Once Human player doesn’t have access to a better option, such as one of the auto shotguns, it will do in a pinch.
Once Human: Most Dangerous Enemies, Ranked
Asside from bosses and mini-bosses, Once Human has many dangerous standard enemies.
This is a weapon that does significant damage, and if the player can master the burn combat mechanic, it can be put to good use against bosses. However, it is overshadowed considerably by the rest of the shotguns on this list.
4 DB12 - Backfire
Stun Lock Shotgun
- How to get: Can be looted from mystical crates in Iron River.
-
Specials:
- Hit an enemy 5 times to trigger frost vortex.
- After triggering frost vortex on an enemy, they will not be able to move for 3 seconds, on a 4-second cooldown.
- When hitting frozen enemies, damage is increased by 60%.
-
Suggested weapon mods:
- Cryo Blast
The
DB12 - Backfire is a very useful piece of equipment in Once Human. Not least because it should be quite easy to obtain for most players, as blueprint fragments can be looted quite early on in the game, in the Iron River region of the open-world map.
With its frost vortex special, it can be used to stun lock enemies, and this is especially useful against enemies such as exploders, to stop them getting into melee range before the player can kill them. For players who don’t want to carry a pistol or sniper rifle as a secondary weapon, the DB12 - Backfire could be a good choice.
3 ACS12 - Netherworld
High Damage Dealer
- How to get: Blueprint can be won from Wish Machine.
-
Specials:
- When all projectiles hit, there is a 50% chance to trigger fast gunner.
- After triggering fast gunner twice, the next shot will consume 1 additional and fire 5 projectiles.
- After reloading from a completely empty mag, the first 12 projectiles fired will have 20% extra attack.
-
Suggested weapon mods:
- Cowboy
The
ACS12 - Netherworld is a real room sweeper weapon. It is intended to dish out an incredible amount of damage at close range. The damage is the result of the fast gunner combat mechanic and requires the player to be very close to an enemy so that all projectiles from a shotgun shell strike the target.
Once Human: 7 Best Places To Farm Loot
All players in Once Human have to farm loot now and then, to keep up with crafting requirements and gear progression.
The ACS12 - Netherworld makes a great backup weapon to be used indoors, instead of using a melee weapon. It doesn’t require a complicated armor build and is quite capable with just a suitable weapon mod fitted.
2 ACS12 - Corrosion
Power Surge Shotgun
- How to get: Blueprint can be won from Wish Machine
-
Specials:
- 70% chance to trigger power surge on hit, but will not trigger power surge status.
- Power Surge can cause a critical hit, with a crit rate of 15%
- When power surge is triggered, power surge critical rate is raised by 15% for 6 seconds and can stack 10 times.
- Power surge damage + 15%
-
Suggested weapon mods:
- Shock Rampage
- Static Shock
The
ACS12 - Corrosion is a legendary shotgun, that revolves around the power surge combat mechanic. This is an elemental-style attack, that inflicts shock damage on the target, based on the player’s PSI power. There is plenty of decent armor and equipment that synergizes with a power surge build.
Once Human: Best Base Locations
Bases in Once Human are a requirement to do well in the game, and choosing the right location can be critical.
But being a legendary weapon, it is unlikely that the player will unlock this weapon within the first season, or maybe several seasons, unless they are extremely lucky. However, it would make a great long-term goal for most players, as power shock is the perfect effect for a shotgun, stunning enemies and stopping them in their tracks.
1 DB12 - Raining Cash
Defensive Shotgun
- How to get: Blueprint can be won from the Wish Machine.
-
Specials:
- Reloading triggers Fortress Warfare, with a cooldown of 10 seconds.
- When defeating an enemy with any form of damage, boost reload speed by +10%. This lasts 5 seconds, stacking up to 5 times.
- When in fortress warfare, crit rate +25%, damage reduction +25%.
-
Suggested weapon mods:
- Vortex Multiplier
- Frosty Blessing
Many players enjoy wielding shotguns due to the thrill of close-quarters combat in Once Human. The
DB12 - Raining Cash stands out as an exceptional weapon, particularly against bosses that avoid direct melee attacks. Based on the fortress warfare combat mechanic, this weapon suits players who prefer to duck into cover between shots.
Its fortress warfare special ability amplifies its effectiveness by significantly enhancing damage output. The increased DPS is a result of both a faster reload speed and a higher critical hit rate. Additionally, players benefit from a reduction in incoming damage, further boosting their survivability. Once fully upgraded, this weapon can be god-like.
