When it comes to anime series adapted from manhwa, Solo Leveling is definitely the king at the moment. Following the story of Sung Jinwoo, it has become a worldwide sensation and one of the most successful series of the last few years. Solo Leveling is extremely popular, and its influence cannot be understated. But, as is the case with all big series, this success has only led to more rivalry being born. The next king of manhwa, Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint, could be coming any time now, and it will offer some tough competition for Sung Jinwoo’s Solo Leveling.
Solo Leveling Is Currently the Most Popular Anime Based on a Manhwa
Solo Leveling is the Most Popular Crunchyroll Anime
Prior to Solo Leveling Season 1’s debut in 2024, Manhwa anime series never got the hype that they deserved, with a few exceptions like Tower of God. When Solo Leveling made its debut, however, everything changed. In 2025, Solo Leveling became the first-ever Manhwa anime to win the title of Anime of the Year at the Crunchyroll Awards, which marked a historical moment for the genre that was very well deserved.
Furthermore, Solo Leveling also went on to become the most popular anime on the Crunchyroll platform in general, which was a staggering achievement. Right now, the series has the most ratings and the highest score of any anime on Crunchyroll, which is definitely an impressive feat for a series with only 25 total episodes on a platform, especially when it hosts the likes of One Piece, Demon Slayer, and Attack on Titan. It's clear that Sung Jinwoo’s action-heavy series has captivated millions, and there's a possibility that it will go on to be the Anime of the Year once again at the Crunchyroll Awards 2026, thanks to its second anime season.
Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint Could Become The Next Solo Leveling
Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint Anime Has Already Been Confirmed
At the moment, no other anime series based on a South Korean manhwa can compete with Solo Leveling, but this could be changing soon. Solo Leveling’s popularity initially surprised many. With this grand success, anime studios have been wanting to tap into the manhwa industry more to bring some of the most incredible and underappreciated stories to life. The next hugely popular manhwa series that will be brought to life soon is Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint. Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint is a series of a similar scale to Solo Leveling, and many believe that once it gets an anime adaptation, it could even compete with it.
Omniscient Readers Viewpoint has already been confirmed for an anime adaptation, although the premiere details remain unclear at the moment. During the Crunchyroll Anime Expo 2024 industry panel, this project was officially confirmed. What's more surprising is that Omniscient Readers Viewpoint will be handled by none other than Aniplex, which worked on the distribution and production of Solo Leveling Seasons 1 and 2. This is incredibly exciting, especially seeing the incredible work that they've done on Solo Leveling with A-1 Pictures, shaping it to be one of the best animated series of the last couple of years. Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint has both incredible action and an amazing story. If adapted well, it could even go on to surpass Solo Leveling.
When Will Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint Anime Be Released?
While Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint anime adaptation has already been confirmed, other information about this project hasn't been divulged just yet. The announcement is the extent of what people know concerning this series. Sadly, this anime hasn't had any new updates since its initial reveal in 2024. Now, two years later, fans are wondering how much further Crunchyroll and Aniplex have gotten on this project. It could be that Aniplex is taking their time with this anime and making sure it's a project fit to be on the same level as Solo Leveling. It could also be that this project is on hold to focus on other anime series they're currently working on, which would definitely be disappointing.
In either case, fans hope for an update this year, and, eventually, a release window. Given the speed at which the project is moving, a 2027 or 2028 release date seems realistic for Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint, especially when taking into consideration the lack of information surrounding its production.
