Wordle is back yet again with another five-letter English word. Players today will only have six tries to get to the answer, and some might want a few hints or the whole spoiler to get through without losing their winning streaks.

How To Play Wordle

As a quick note: there are tons of Wordles out there. The original's quick play, limited archives, and popularity spawned tons of direct copycats and clones with unique rules. In order to play the original version and the subject of this article, players will need to either head to the New York Times Games Wordle website or the NYT Crossword app. Other versions will have different answers and may have slightly different rules.

First, choose a good starting Wordle word. This word:

Must be five letters long.
Must be a real English word.
Should be the Americanized spelling of words.
Should be filled with common Wordle letters.
Shouldn't be a plural noun ending in S.
Must not be a proper noun.
Must not be an offensive word.

Once a great starting word is chosen, type it into the Wordle website. Press enter. This will cause the letters of the chosen word to change colors.

Letters that turn green are right and in the right place(s) in the word.
Letters that turn yellow are right but in the wrong place(s) in the word.
Gray letters are incorrect and won't be in the final answer.

Given these clues, players need to keep trying new five-letter words and getting new color-coded clues until they either guess the answer or run out of their six total tries. There is only one Wordle puzzle per day, and it resets daily at midnight local time.
