Soon after escaping the Sewers in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered and exploring the world to complete various quests, you will come across a Mage's Guild in every city that you can join. Upon doing so, you will gain access to a series of side quests that progress the Mage's Guild questline, making you a better Magicka user by the day.

The second step of the questline is to visit the Mage's Guild in every city and complete a recommendation there in order to gain access to the Arcane University, where players can truly learn more about Mages and Necromancers. This guide offers a walkthrough on the quest and where players can find Varon Vamori, who is a vital part of the quest in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.

Bravil Recommendation Quest Walkthrough in Oblivion Remastered

Fast travel to Bravil and make your way to the city's west side, where the Mage's Guild is situated next to the dock. Head inside and find Kud-Ei, who has the recommendation quest for you for the Bravil Mage's Guild. She wants you to retrieve the Mage's Staff from Varon Vamori. You can talk to her again about the staff to get the Beguile Spell, which is quite useful for the next step.

Where To Find Varon Vamori in Oblivion Remastered

Varon Vamori has a habit of roaming around Bravil, but he follows a pattern, allowing you to find him in case tracking him through the quest marker isn't simple enough. From around 8 AM to 10 AM, you can find him inside the Mage's Guild, after which he leaves the building and either makes his way to the Great Chapel of Mara or the Silverhome on the Water Inn. Both of these buildings are not far away from the Guild, so at times you might find him going from one place to the other. In case you are trying to find him after 8 PM, then your best bet is his house, located slightly north of the Mage's Guild and directly opposite the Chapel.

Once you find him, use the Beguile spell on him, and if the Disposition meter is still low, you can try raising it above 70, which should work, and he should tell you everything about the Staff. Head back to Kud-Ei and tell her about what you have learned, and she will give you three more Beguiles to use on the next set of NPCs you will have to talk to. Head to the marker located in the Talos Plaza District of the Imperial City. Head to Soris Arenim, use your Beguile, raise his disposition, and talk to him about the Staff. He will tell you that he does not want to give you the Staff, but doesn't mind selling it to you for 200 Gold. If you have a lot of Gold on you and don't mind spending it here, then go ahead; otherwise, talk to Erissare Arenim.

She will inform you that the Mage's Staff is down in the basement, inside the chest, and the keys to it are in Soris's desk. Leave the building and wait for midnight, after which you can lockpick the door and head inside. If you are confident in your lockpicking skills or have acquired the Skeleton Key, then you can head straight for the chest in the basement; otherwise, get the keys from his desk upstairs. Inside the basement, there is a drawer that you open to find the Staff and bring it back to Kud-Ei.

Make sure guards do not see you entering the house at night, otherwise, you might have to go to jail and have your stolen goods confiscated.

Upon bringing the Staff back to Kud-Ei, this will complete the recommendation quest, and she will also give you the Captivate Spell.
