A modder has recently created a settlement placing system that resembles the one used in Fallout 4 in the recent The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered. While the mod does not offer a fully fleshed-out settlement system, it’s still quite an impressive project, and it may be interesting for gamers who play Oblivion Remastered on PC.
Shadow-dropped earlier this year, Oblivion Remastered has been a huge hit. The remaster, which was developed by Bethesda and Virtuos, was a faithful recreation of the original 2006 open-world RPG with improved graphics and mechanics, and it quickly became one of the best-selling games of 2025.
Oblivion Remastered's Wildest Weapon May Be a Better Fit for Another Xbox RPG
Oblivion Remastered has one particularly odd weapon that might actually be a much better fit in one of Xbox's other popular RPG series.
Now, a new mod called “Oblivion Settlement Building - Spawn and Place Objects” has been published on Nexus Mods by MadAborModding. The mod offers a pseudo-settlement building system that lets the player spawn objects all over the world, including even huge ones such as rocks and walls, which can be used to modify or build structures. However, while the mod is arguably fun, it’s still a far cry from Fallout 4’s actual settlements, as it just lets gamers put objects in the world. The entire project is open source, though, and MadAborModding states on the mod’s page that they hope that someone will expand this into an “actual settlement system,” though, which would likely be very popular if it happens.
New Oblivion Remastered Mod Adds Fallout 4-Style Settlement Placement to Open-World RPG
The work is even more impressive when considering that Oblivion Remastered does not have official mod support. Despite mods being one of the main reasons why games such as Skyrim continue to be popular up to this day, Oblivion Remastered does not officially support this feature, so mods can only be used on PC.
Despite the lack of official mod support, Oblivion Remastered already had over 200 mods around a day after release, showing how dedicated the community is. At the time of this report, Nexus Mods has over 3,600 mods for Oblivion Remastered, and the number will likely keep rising.
Gamers who want to use mods in Oblivion Remastered fortunately have plenty of options to choose from. Some of the best Oblivion Remastered mods include some that get rid of annoying glitches, projects that improve the graphics of the open-world game on PC, saves that start right before players leave the sewers, and more. It’ll certainly be interesting to see how the community continues to support Oblivion Remastered with mods, especially if fans manage to devise a functional building system for the popular RPG.
