In a recent post on Reddit, polo_jeans shared that they don't care for the infamy system in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, claiming that NPCs are reacting poorly to them even though they have two Infamy and 150 Fame. This is all part of the game, as certain levels of Infamy can cause NPCs to raise or lower the price of goods, grant or restrict access to quests, and casually mention that they're disappointed in a player who has gone astray. There are many ways to gain Fame and Infamy, and one does not cancel out the other. For instance, closing Oblivion Gates will increase one's Fame, while committing crimes will raise one's Infamy. It's also possible to gain both through quests.
