Players will undertake many different quests throughout Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered. One of these quests will have them seeking out one of the Great Welkynd Stone. The only location known to one of these stones is at the ruins of Miscarcand.

The “Miscarcand” quest will be given to players through an NPC named Martin Sptim. Players will encounter this NPC by playing through the main questline. There are an abundance of ways players can start their Oblivion Remastered journey, so players could come across this dungeon long before they ever meet this NPC.

How to Unlock Miscarcand Iron Gate in Oblivion Remastered

The Miscarcand dungeon can be located between Kvatch and Skingrad. Head to the point on the map that is directly to the right of where “Kvatch” is written. Now, travel right until Miscarcand appears on your compass. Head down the spiral staircase, and the quest will update.

Here is a step-by-step guide to navigating this dungeon:

  • As players enter this dungeon, they will head down some stairs where they will encounter an enemy.
  • After dealing with this enemy, they must continue to head west through the dungeon until they come to a split in their path.
  • Take the left path and go through the gate.
  • Players will find themselves on a bridge. Jump down and use the doorway on the west wall. Head up a flight of stairs, and there will be a button in this room.
  • Press the button, then head up the stairs to the left of it.
  • Make a right turn at the top of the stairs and walk onto the pressure plate.
  • Go through the square gate that opens.
  • Head south to get back to the bridge you jumped from.
  • Follow along this bridge to find a door called “Stone Door to Miscarcand, Sel Vanua”
  • Proceed through this door.

Miscarcand Great Welkynd Stone Location in Oblivion Remastered

Once you pass through the door, head straight to find a large room filled with goblins. Dispatch all of these goblins to make things easier. You can funnel them into the entrance before the room.

There will be a button on the wall of this room. Press it to raise the cage protecting the Varla Stone.

Head southeast and through the gate, then head east. After passing down some stairs, you will find a large open room. Follow the south wall and go through the open doorway. You will be in a narrow corridor. Keep following the south wall while heading east, and you will find a block you can press.

After pressing this block, head all the way north to find the Stone Door to Miscarand, Morimath. Follow the tunnel and take the first left you come to. Take the next left so that you are heading west on the compass.

Make a save as there will be a lot of enemies ahead.

Go through the gate and follow the path until you see a glowing stone. Go up to this stone and take it to get a quest update. There are many Welkynd Stones in the game, but this is the only Great Welkynd Stone.

Turn around and head back across the bridge. Keep heading north, and you will face off against the King of Miscarcand. Kill this enemy and loot the key from them. Go into the small room along the north wall, and you will find a pressure plate. Stepping on this plate will create a passageway that will lead you west to a gate.

Follow the tunnels and keep heading up stairways, and you will find the "Stone Door to Miscarcand." Go through this door and step on the pressure plate in the room it leads to. The wall ahead will lower, and you can head straight to reach the exit of the dungeon. Travel to the quest marker to turn in the quest.
