How to Start the "May The Best Thief Win" Quest in Oblivion Remastered

Getting Lockpicks from Armand Christophe Oblivion Remastered

After players start the Thieves' Guild questline by getting arrested for stealing in Oblivion Remastered, they'll need to meet Armand in the Imperial City Waterfront District at midnight (12 PM). First, you'll need to show him the Mysterious Note for him to recognize you as an initiate of the Thieves' Guild.

Once everyone arrives, Armand will give a short briefing about stealing Amantius Allectus' Diary without killing him. Players will have to make haste to Amantius' House, as other initiates will try to reach there first and beat you to steal it.

If you don't have any lockpicks on you, make sure to buy some from Armand before you head out.

Location of Amantius Allectus' Diary

Amantius Allectus' House is located in the Imperial City Temple District in Oblivion Remastered. To reveal the houses' location, you can bribe a beggar sleeping close to Armand. Regardless of whether you choose to bribe the beggar or not, head over to the Temple District. Once you're loaded in the area, head towards the right and make a turn into a row of houses.

As soon as you approach the big gate, turn right, and you'll find Amantius Allectus' House. The door is locked, but you can easily lockpick it to get inside. Once inside, look to the right to spot a reading desk. Open it up to get the Amantius Allectus' Diary.

If ~8 hours have elapsed, and you haven't secured the diary, one of the other thieves will get it. So, you'll need to follow the quest markers and retrieve the diary from the competing thief before returning to Armand.

Now simply return to Armand in the Waterfront District and show him the diary to complete the May the Best Thief Win quest. This will finally get you admitted into the Thieves' Guild of Oblivion Remastered. Now you can take on the next series of quests from the guild.
