Welkynd Stones are one of the most useful items players can find in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, and getting a steady supply of them is the key to success as a magician in Cyrodiil. Since most spells consume heaps of Magicka, and Welkynd Stones will recharge all the character's Magicka pool (no matter how high it is), they become indispensable for high-end magic-based builds.

In this guide, players will find information about Welkynd Stones, pinpointing the best locations to farm them and the best ways to use them in Oblivion Remastered.

How To Use Welkynd Stones In Oblivion Remastered

Welkynd Stones can be used directly from the inventory or associated with any of the shortcuts (1 to 8) from the hotbar. They work as a full recovery Magicka Potion, which will instantly recharge the Magicka bar, being destroyed in the process.

That means that players will have to consume them completely to recharge their Magicka Pool, and carry several of them if they know they will need them in battle. These consumables become crucial for Spellcraft, since sometimes, spells like Blizzard and Disintegrate Weapon (which are some of the most useful in the game) are costly in terms of Magicka, and casting various of these will make players drink a ton of potions.

For a spellcaster-focused player, having to carry loads of weight in Magicka Recovery Potion. Since a high-end Magicka Restore Potion weighs 0.5, and players might need 2 or 3 to recover a 500 Magicka pool, carrying one Welkynd Stone that weighs 1 is much more efficient in terms of encumbrance.

Where To Find Welkynd Stones In Oblivion Remastered

The best places to find Welkynd Stones in Oblivion Remastered are Ayleid Ruins, which are spread all across Cyrodiil from north to south/east to west. Welkynd Stones will appear as glowing blue jewels that are often illuminating certain pillar-like structures, and are present as a common characteristic in every Ayleid Ruin the player can delve into.

It is important to mention that Welkynd Stones do not respawn like other loot, so having them stashed at some of the many places the player can use as a base of operation is a smart move.

Players shouldn't confuse Welkynd Stone with Varla Stones, which are far more valuable and can also be located in some Ayleid Ruins. Varla Stones are similar in shape to Welkynd Stones, but they are white, and their purpose is different: They recharge all Enchanted Items the player carries to the maximum with one use. Each Varla Stone costs 1000 Gold, so, in terms of value, they're far more precious than the Welkynd Stones, and much scarcer as a resource.

Still, the best hotspots to get Welkynd Stones and farm them consistently in the early game are the following:

  • Fanacasecul: South of Weye, below Lake Rumare's bridge to the Imperial City.
  • Vindasel: Following the road from Weye to the south-east, near the shore of Lake Rumare.
  • Sardavar Leed: South of the Imperial Road, following the coast of Lake Rumare (south of the Imperial City).
  • Vanua: Underwater, right in the mouth of Upper Niben River, in Lake Rumare.
  • Vilverin: On an island northeast of the Imperial City, in the middle of Lake Rumare.
  • Sercen: North of the Imperial City, near the Red Ring Road.
  • Piukanda: North of the Imperial City, inside the Great Forest.

Most of these locations surround the Imperial City in a circular pattern, so players can start in each of these, and do a clockwise /counterclockwise sweep and loot them all consistently.
