Oblivion Remastered allows players to grab almost every item they set their eyes on, which can put a heavy toll on your character. As the character's weight goes past a certain threshold, they'll become over-encumbered. Over-encumbrance prevents you from sprinting and fast-traveling in the game, which is especially annoying if you're quite far from your storage space. Here's how players can drop unnecessary items to remove the over-encumbrance status.
Oblivion Remastered: How To Get A Horse
If you don't want to rely on fast travel, horses are the only means of travel through the world of Oblivion Remastered, here's how to get one free.
How to Drop Items in Oblivion Remastered
If you're over-encumbered or have just picked up a lot of useless items in Oblivion Remastered, simply drop them off. Since items are stored in stacks within the inventory, players also have an option to either drop one item or the whole stack.
You can do it by heading into your inventory and switching over to the All Items tab. From here, look for whichever unnecessary items you've got stored up and highlight them. Now use the following button prompts to drop an item.

Left Shift Key + Left Mouse Button |
Left Control Key + Left Mouse Button |

Once players press the appropriate button, the item or stack will fall on the ground. In case you've accidentally dropped an important item, you can always pick it back up without losing it.
When trying to remove the over-encumbered effect, players will need to refer to the weight of each item. This will help you decide how many items you are required to drop to remove over-encumbrance.
How to Increase Carry Weight
If you want to avoid getting over-encumbered so often, Oblivion Remastered offers several ways that allow players to increase their maximum carry weight. This will allow you to carry all the items you need without making constant rounds to your storage box.
- Invest points in the Strength Attribute, as each point increases the maximum carry weight by 5.
- Use potions like Fortify Strength or Feather Effects to temporarily remove over-encumbrance so you can sell off any goods in your inventory.
- Try using the "player.forceav encumbrance -X" console command. Replace 'X' with the value of the maximum weight you want to add to your character. However, using console commands can disable achievements.
