After completing the main story mission in Kvatch in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered and destroying the first Oblivion Gate, players will be able to find several Oblivion Gates throughout Cyrodiil, all of which are altering the weather around them. Players are able to head inside these gates and destroy them, obtaining Sigil Stones as a reward along with other items, weapons, and armors that they might come across.
As all of the Oblivion Gates are unique in their own way, these can be difficult to navigate at times. This guide offers information on how to complete the Oblivion Gate with the Geared Batten, which needs to be interacted with to destroy the gate entirely in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.
How to Complete Geared Batten Oblivion Gate in Oblivion Remastered
As you enter the Oblivion Gate, head right to find a door leading to Anguish Keep. There are a few Dremora enemies to deal with before you proceed to the Halls of Eternal Twilight. Start making your way up, but avoid exiting the building through the Waste of Oblivion doors, as the bridge is broken. Instead, go to the Halls of Shame and continue climbing the tower. Eventually, you’ll reach the Shrine, where another door to the Waste of Oblivion awaits—this bridge is also broken. Rather than exiting, head to the top of the Shrine Room, where the Sigil Stone is usually located.
Upon reaching the top, you’ll realize that, unlike most other Oblivion Gates, there is no Sigil Stone here. To progress, head to the giant cogs and activate the Geared Batten next to them. A message will appear saying, "Lock one of two has been released." Now return to the door in the Shrine Room that previously led out to the broken bridge—this time, it will extend, allowing access to the Sorrow Shrine. Climb the ramps on either side and activate the second Geared Batten, which releases the second lock.
Once both locks are released, head back down the tower and find the door that leads to the Brooding Fortress. Upon entering, you’ll immediately notice a pillar of fire, confirming that you are in the correct and final tower. Climb to the top, and you’ll eventually reach the door to Sigillum Sanguis. Enter it to find the Sigil Stone and complete this Oblivion Gate.
Inside the Oblivion Gates, be sure to grab the Daedra Hearts from the corpses of Daedra enemies, as you can use these as an alchemical ingredient.
