Summary
- One Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered player took a seat in a goblin-infested fort and was instantly killed by a swinging mace.
- Players have been taking to social media to share the more hilarious aspects of their playthroughs.
An unlucky Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered player decided to take a rest break at the worst possible moment and paid the ultimate price. Late last month, Bethesda Game Studios and developer Virtuos released an updated version of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, allowing gamers to play through the classic 2006 RPG and its two expansions either for the first time or all over again with new Unreal Engine 5 graphics. The results have been a resounding success so far, with Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered being one of the best-selling games of 2025 as of this writing.
Beyond the main quest to save the province of Cyrodiil from the demonic forces of Oblivion, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered is open-ended. Players can shape their character from multiple races and character classes and roam the world however they see fit. This has naturally led to many video clips of players encountering hilariously glitched-out skeleton enemies or discovering seemingly mundane treasures that are actually worth a great fortune. Of course, Cyrodiil is as dangerous as it is unpredictable, and even the Hero of Kvatch must stay ever vigilant if they wish to avoid a gruesome end.
Oblivion Remastered is Already One of the Best-Selling Games of 2025
After only two weeks since its release, Bethesda's new Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion remaster is one of 2025's best-selling games so far.
Reddit user SmoothbrainDev recently learned this lesson the hard way while playing The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, and shared a video clip of their great misfortune on the Oblivion subreddit. The player was fighting their way through a goblin-infested fort when they decided to sit down for a quick breather on a nearby throne. This proved disastrous, as a swinging mace suddenly struck their character in the face, killing them instantly.
Oblivion Remastered Player Gets Killed While Sitting Down
Other Oblivion Remastered players in the comment section of the Reddit post have also chanced across that very chair and noted how it almost beckoned them to take an ill-timed seat. Some have even joked about the next would-be explorer discovering the remains of the doomed Hero of Kvatch sitting on that throne, similar to how some Fallout players have encountered corpses in various unflattering situations.
The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered is a dark and serious game for the most part, but there is still plenty of comedy to be found in random gameplay events like this. Other fun can be had in The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Remastered’s character creator, which allows players to journey through the world of Cyrodiil as Nigel Thornberry or Shane Gillis, among other hilarious possibilities. Regardless of how they may look, the Hero of Kvatch must always be careful, as their next rest break could easily be their last.
