Oblivion Remastered Player's Attempt to Keep Kvatch Guards Alive Ends in Disaster
An Oblivion Remastered player attempts to keep all the guards of Kvatch alive during a main story mission, but the situation ends tragically.
On Reddit, user ChabbyMonkey shared their real-world interpretation of the Gray Fox mask. The remarkable piece looks extremely similar to its in-game counterpart, with the OP even sharing an image of what it looks like when it's worn. All the key elements of the original Gray Fox mask are present, including the wide stitching, multiple combined layers of material making up the face, and different varieties of material, giving the recreation more texture. The OP notes that the lettering on the center of the mask didn't work the way that they wanted, but outside of that, the mask is being received as a practically perfect replica by the fans.
Oblivion Fans Express Amusement and Curiosity Over Gray Fox Mask
Numerous Elder Scrolls fans have shared their praise for the OP in the comments, with some asking for more details on how the notorious Gray Fox's cowl was crafted. ChabbyMonkey responded, saying that they estimated that the cowl took somewhere around 20 hours from start to finish, including the drafting and designing process. They said that one of the toughest parts was the center strip of the mask, which they had to sew on flat but also give it a curved shape once it was in place. The OP also explained that the mask inadvertently gained a more structured shape around the eyes because they built the design around being able to wear glasses underneath it. Wet-forming the leather caused it to take on the shape of the frames, giving the mask a more pronounced form.
Outside of compliments, numerous commenters are primarily quoting memeable moments from the game surrounding the Gray Fox. For the unfamiliar, the Gray Fox's cowl can be worn by the player once earned, and it will automatically lead to essentially every NPC identifying the player as the Gray Fox. This has some advantages, like being able to commit crimes under the disguise of the mask and avoiding trouble once it's taken off, but it also leads to some hilarious dialogue from guards stunned by their luck of bumping into the Gray Fox.
