If you have ever interacted with Pokémon at any point in your life, be it a video game, the card game, the anime, or just generally been exposed to the franchise, you have likely imagined what it would be like to have a real Pokémon. And who can blame you? Having a little (or very big) Pokémon in your life could definitely improve it. It is something that many of us have dreamed about, or about entering the world of Pokémon for ourselves and finding ourselves surrounded by them.

While the Pokémon Company sadly cannot magically transport us into the world of Pokémon, or give us a real creature to befriend, they have created the next-best thing. On the Pokémon Center Online's official Japanese store, an incredible new life-size Pokémon plush has been listed for sale. While there have been life-sized Snorlax, Spheal, and more, this is a new friend for you to make. This time, they have created a life-sized Gardevoir.

A Life-Sized Gardevoir to Protect You

Or to Give You a Big Hug

The new life-sized Gardevoir was posted in February on the Pokémon Center Online website, with sales beginning from February 6th. It stands at an incredible 160cm (5ft2in), and weighs 5,000g (11lbs). While its height is actually accurate to what Gardevoir is in the Pokémon world, where it is usually around 5ft2in as well, it weighs significantly less. A real Gardevoir can weigh in at over 106lbs. Luckily for anyone who wants to have this massive plush in their house and actually move it around, it only weighs about 1/10th of that.

The life-sized Gardevoir listing includes pictures of the plush from every angle, and even a few of it standing in a real house to try to emphasize its large scale. It is pictured as a decoration, and would definitely add a major talking point to any room. It comes as no surprise that the Pokémon Company has listed as many photos of the plush as possible, because Gardevoir does not come cheap. The massive plush is listed for 49,500 yen ($325 USD), so you have to be committed to your love for Gardevoir if you intend to bring it into your home.

It is worth noting that anyone purchasing a Gardevoir from the Japanese Pokémon Center Online shop has to order it separately from all other products. If you are planning to buy this life-sized plush and anything else, you will need to make separate orders. It also does not come in a special Pokémon Center box, presumably because of its size. Though with that price and that level of commitment, you would think that the Pokémon Center would be able to make it its own special box. Gardevoir is not listed for sale internationally yet at the time of publishing, but may be in the future.

Why Gardevoir?

Why Not a More Common Pokémon?

pokemon unveils new life-sized gardevoir plush

You may be wondering why the Pokémon Company decided to make a huge, very expensive Gardevoir rather than a more common Pokémon. After all, her humanoid shape means she cannot double for a big pillow like Spheal, or a bed like Snorlax. She isn't as cuddly as Pikachu or other starter Pokémon. What Gardevoir is in the world of Pokémon, though, is extremely powerful, and that has made it popular.

Gardevoir is one of the possible third evolutions of Ralts, evolving from Kirlia. Gardevoir has been a psychic/fairy type Pokémon since Generation VI, and prior to that, was a pure psychic Pokémon. Gardevoir is known for its strength in battle, and also for its beautiful design. Unlike many other extremely powerful Pokémon, Gardevoir is not huge, muscled, and scary. This sets Gardevoir apart from many other top-level Pokémon, and has led to its popularity among fans.

Gardevoir remains an interesting choice for a life-sized plush, though, considering its design is not very snuggly. However, since it is freestanding, it is perfect for giving a big hug. As stated above, it also makes for some interesting room decor. And since its height is at least accurate to Pokémon lore, it can be like having a real Gardevoir in your room. So if that has been your dream, this is your best chance to make that dream a reality.
