There are three types of alcohol in Norland, these being Flavorful Ale, Beer, and Moonshine. All citizens prefer the drinks in that order and will always purchase and drink the best if it is available. Drinking Flavorful Ale grants increased mood, whereas Moonshine decreases mood. All alcohol in Norland is made in the Brewery, and it is sold to peasants at the Tavern. Lords, on the other hand, take it for free from the Warehouse.

How To Make A Brewery & Tavern In Norland

Thankfully, no knowledge is required to build a Brewery or Tavern in Norland, so this is a fairly easy process. The Brewery can be found in the Production buildings, whereas the Tavern is found in the Service buildings.

As long as players have a lord assigned at the hall to issue building commands, both the Brewery and Tavern will go up fairly quickly. However, players should wait until they are ready to harvest Rutabaga, which is required to produce the most basic alcohol in the game, Moonshine.

For the Brewery to operate, players will need to have a manager assigned to instruct workers. They can also upgrade the Brewery to increase production.

Assign lords with higher management skills to increase the production of buildings such as the Brewery.

How To Make Moonshine In Norland

Moonshine is the most rudimentary alcohol in the game, and it is made out of Rutabaga, which also happens to be the simplest type of food in Norland.

How To Make Rutabaga In Norland

To produce Rutabaga, only two steps need to be followed, although of course it takes a little bit of time for the harvest to come in:

Build a Rutabaga Field on a patch of land with high fertility, and make sure a lord is set to manage the Hall so that builders will be directed to start construction.
Assign a lord to manage the completed field and wait for the harvest to come in every few days.

To have enough Rutabaga to eat and turn into Moonshine, players will want to build at least two Rutabaga Fields.

Turning Rutabaga Into Moonshine In Norland

Norland Production Menu Moonshine & Flour

Thankfully, no knowledge needs to be obtained from books to brew Moonshine, and if players have enough Rutabaga and a Brewery built, the next step is very simple.

Click on the Production menu at the bottom of the screen, and order a set amount of Moonshine.
Make sure a lord is set to manage the Brewery if it wasn't previously in use.

Once Moonshine has been produced, as long as players have a Tavern up and running, peasants will buy it when they have the coin and feel the need for rest. Lords will take it for free from a Warehouse.

How To Make Beer In Norland

As players progress through this medieval simulation game, they will eventually want to offer their citizens something tastier than Moonshine, and this is where Beer comes in handy. There are two ingredients required to make Beer in Norland: Rye and Hops, but knowledge from books is needed to produce both of these.

How To Make Rye In Norland

Rye in Norland is used to make both Beer and Flour, making it a vital resource. To start farming it, players simply need to follow the steps below:

Purchase the Rye Field and Mill book from the Holy Caravan if you do not already have it.
Assign a lord to study the book in the library, ideally one with high Intelligence.
Build a Rye Field on fertile land, and assign a lord to manage it.

As Rye is used for both Beer and Flour, players will likely want to build two Rye Fields and assign a lord with a high Management skill to increase production.

How To Make Hops In Norland

Hops are used to brew both Beer and Flavorful Ale in Norland, meaning it must be grown if players don't want their characters complaining about Moonshine all game. Hops can be grown in Norland with the following steps:

Purchase the Hop Field and Beer book from the Holy Caravan.
Assign a lord to study the book in the library, ideally one with high Intelligence.
Build a Hop Field on fertile land, and assign a lord to manage it.

Brewing Beer In Norland

By growing Hops, players will have had to study the Hop Field and Beer book, meaning they can now brew Beer as long as their Brewery is still up and running. To do so, simply click on the Production menu at the bottom of the screen and set an amount of Beer to be brewed.

As this will use Rye, players will want to be careful not to order too much Beer, as they wouldn't want to interrupt the production of Flour.

How To Make Flavorful Ale In Norland

Flavorful Ale is the best type of alcohol in Norland and characters who drink it regularly will see an increase in their mood, especially if they are lowborn and unused to such treats. To make Flavorful Ale, players will need Hops and Herbs, and to produce Hops players can refer to the section above as they are also used to brew Beer.

How To Make Herbs In Norland

Herbs are not only used to make Flavorful Ale but also Medicinal Salve and Nectar. They can be cultivated by using the following steps:

Purchase the Herbalist book from the Holy Caravan and assign a lord to study it.
Build the Herbalist building from among the Resource buildings, and assign a lord to manage it.

It's best to place the Herbalist building near to the forest where Herbs are gathered. This will increase production.

Brewing Flavorful Ale In Norland

Once Hops and Herbs have been grown, players will need to follow two steps to produce Flavorful Ale, although the first of these is best completed earlier:

Purchase the Flavorful Ale book from the Holy Caravan and assign a lord to study it.
Click on the Production menu at the bottom and set an amount of Flavorful Ale to be made.
