Nvidia will not be releasing the RTX 4090 Ti, according to a new report. This September will mark the one-year anniversary of the GeForce RTX 4090, and it was expected that the company might refresh the top-tier card with a more powerful ‘Ti’ variant as it usually does, but that doesn’t seem to be the case this time around. As of now, its 40 series of cards only have two SKUs that offer ‘Ti’ models, the RTX 4060 and RTX 4070.Last September, Nvidia unveiled its initial 40 series of cards which included the RTX 4080 and the RTX 4090. The GPUs went on sale in November but since then, Nvidia has added quite a few other options for the mid-tier segment. The RTX 4070 Ti with 12GB VRAM was released in January this year, followed by the RTX 4070 in April. Next, it announced the RTX 4060 and 4060 Ti with 8GB VRAM in May with the RTX 4060 Ti becoming available in the same month. The RTX 4060 and RTX 4060 Ti 16GB were the latest to arrive in July.RTX 4090 And RTX 4080 Board Partner Offerings

RELATED: MSI’s RTX 4060 Ti 16GB Already On Sale Just Days After Launch

It was expected that Nvidia will refresh its flagship RTX 4090 this September by adding a slightly more powerful ‘Ti’ variant to the family. Another reason for this speculation was that the RTX 4090 does not max out the AD106 silicon that it is based on. The chip has 18432 CUDA cores and the 4090 uses 16384, which means the chip has more potential, which is why enthusiasts were expecting an RTX 4090 Ti this September. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case. A known tipster who has provided credible leaks in the past has shared that there will be no RTX 4090 Ti.

The tipster did mention that the RTX 4070 and 4060 SKUs based on the AD103 and AD106 chips will get different versions. Both SKUs already have ‘Ti’ models and the RT 4060 even has 8GB and 16GB variants with the ‘Ti’ moniker, though the difference in performance doesn’t justify the $100 price difference. It is possible that these new, tweaked GPUs get regional launches and are exclusive to China.

In a separate tweet, the same tipster shared that the next flagship GPU from Nvidia will feature a 512-bit memory interface. The company has not used a 512-bit memory bus since the GTX 280 and GTX 285 back in 2008 and 2009. This change in the next flagship GPU, along with the expected GDDR7 VRAM, could result in double the performance of the already extremely powerful RTX 4090. For reference, a 512-bit bus allows for a maximum throughput of 2TBPS, and the RTX 4090 is currently configured with a 384-bit bus offering a maximum throughput of 1008 Gbps.

Looking at Nvidia’s current 40 series GPU lineup, the company offers the baseline RTX4060 for $299 which is available for cheaper from some board partners. Next is the RTX 4060 Ti 8GB at $399 and the 16GB at $499. The RTX 4070 launched at $599 while the RTX 4070 Ti launched at $799. Finally, the RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 launched at $1199 and $1599 respectively. There is a gap between the RTX 4070 and its ‘Ti’ variant as well as between the ‘Ti’ variant and the RTX 4080. Are these the price points Nvidia is trying to fill with tweaked versions of the RT 4060 and RTX 4070? Only time will tell.

The Gigabyte AORUS ELITE GeForce RTX 4060 8G is a premium take on Nvidia's latest Ada Lovelace-based GPU, offering an excellent tri-fan cooler, a high boost clock, and an excellent aesthetic design on offer along with dual DisplayPort 1.4a and HDMI 2.1 offerings to round off a very polished GPU design which one could say is a bit overkill for an RTX 4060.
