Since version 4.0 of No Man's Sky rolled out last week, a number of players have expressed their disappointment with the update, with some leaving negative reviews on Steam. As a BAFTA award-winning game, the galaxy exploration title managed to turn things around after its initial 2016 launch left a lot of people unimpressed. This led to review bombing at first, but since then, the studio has diligently worked to make significant improvements, and the fan base has been strong ever since.

A number of people over on Reddit have not taken kindly to the No Man's Sky 4.0 Waypoint update. It seems some are not happy about a few of the changes the studio has implemented, such as how the inventory system works. While there are now more slots, it comes at the cost of reduced technology upgrades. Players are finding that their characters are weaker as a result. Things have gotten to the point where some have taken to review bombing the game on Steam. Currently, it sits at "mostly positive" rating on the PC storefront, but a graph shows that a number of players have been leaving negative scores since the update went live. There have apparently also been instances of people sending toxic messages to Hello Games.

The 4.0 patch for No Man's Sky is said to be a way to entice new players to the game. In an interview, Murray said that those who have not experienced No Man's Sky for a while may be overwhelmed by all the updates that have come out over the years. As such, the newest changes aim to ease up the grind, as well as streamline the tutorial sections and alter the inventory system as mentioned earlier. However, this has evidently left some in the community displeased, despite the game being celebrated these days.

While it initially had a terrible launch, No Man's Sky is now considered an excellent game, giving players the chance to explore space and planets, as well as build settlements. Sometimes when updates roll out, there will be a vocal few who express a negative response to changes, but hopefully these reactions won't harm the reputation that Hello Games' title has earned over the years.
