There are various martial arts/skills that players can learn and equip their weapons in Nioh 3. The Severing Spin is one of the best early-game weapon martial arts that usually comes rolled on Crucible weapons, specifically swords. Here's a quick guide on how to get a Crucible weapon with the Severing Spin martial art and how to use it on other weapons of the same category.

How to Get the Severing Spin Weapon Martial Art in Nioh 3

Nioh 3 Crucible Manifested Quest

Severing Spin in Nioh 3 is a powerful weapon martial art that sends red slashes in all directions, dealing AOE damage to enemies in the vicinity. This martial art/skill is mainly found on Crucible weapons (swords), and can be used with other swords once you've learned it.

One of the best ways to get a Crucible weapon with the Severing Spin martial art is to replay the "Crucible Manifested" main mission. Players can simply head to a nearby Shrine and replay the mission via the Battle Scroll feature. Once you start the mission, go through the area while defeating any enemies you come across, especially higher-level ones, and loot all containers.

Nioh 3 Crucible Weapon with Severing Spin

As soon as you receive a sword inside the Crucible, you'll know it has a Crucible skill rolled onto it with the flaming skull icon. Check out the bottom section of the weapon info to see if it has the Severing Spin martial art or not. Once you've finally got a Crucible sword with the Severing Spin skill, simply exit the mission, as you don't need to complete it fully.

The Crucible weapon with the Severing Spin is only available for the Samurai style. Make sure to switch your style to Samurai before searching for the weapon in your inventory.

You'll be able to use the Severing Spin immediately after equipping the weapon by pressing the "Left Stick Down + Y/Triangle" button or "E key + Right Mouse" button.

The Severing Spin command on controllers works best while you're targeting an enemy. Using the skill without targeting an enemy will simply turn your character around and launch a heavy attack.

Nioh 3 Customize Martial Arts Apply Severing Spin to Other Weapons

If you want to map the Severing Spin skill on other swords, you'll need to raise your Familiarity with the Crucible weapon with the skill first. To do that, you simply need to equip the weapon and use it to defeat enemies you encounter during a mission or open-world exploration.

Once the familiarity is high enough or maxed out, head inside the Customize Martial Arts/Ninjutsu menu and map the Severing Spin martial art to the appropriate command.

The Severing Spin skill isn't compatible with all weapons. Make sure you have the right category of swords selected before you try to remap the skill to it.
