One of the best quality-of-life features in Nioh 3 is the ability to respec all of your character stats and skill points without any restrictions. Unlike most Soulslike games that ask for an arm and a leg if you want to try to change your build, Nioh 3 removes all barriers to build experimentation, encouraging players to try their hands at different weapons and playstyles.

This guide covers the exact method players can use to reset their character stats and martial arts/ninjutsu in the game, and give themselves a clean slate to start anew. Here are the details.

How to Respec Character Stats in Nioh 3

To reset your character level up stats in Nioh 3, here is what you need to do:

  • Pray at any Shrine or Bodhisattva Statue (if you’re inside a Crucible).
  • Scroll down and select the “Level Up” option.
  • Press 3 (PC) or L3 (PS5/Xbox) to reset all stats.
  • Allocate the stat points according to your preference.
  • Press Space (PC), X (PS5), or A (Xbox) to confirm your selection.
  • Repeat as many times as you want. There is no cost for respeccing your character in Nioh 3.

If stats remain unallocated and you confirm your selection in the Respec screen, you can regain the Amrita used for your level ups, thereby decreasing your level. Do note, however, that if you die with this Amrita in hand and do not reclaim your death flag, this Amrita will be lost forever.

The permanent character stats obtained by alternate means other than level up cannot be reset. For instance, the +1 Strength or +1 Skill obtained as a result of choosing a Kusanagi form at the start of the game cannot be reset.

How to Respec Skills in Nioh 3

To reset your Martial Arts and Ninjutsu skills in Nioh 3, here is what you need to do:

  • Press Esc (PC) or Start (PS5/Xbox) to open the pause menu.
  • Go to Acquire Martial Arts/Ninjutsu.
  • Use the cursor to navigate to the skills you want to respec.
  • Press 3 (PC) or L3 (PS5/Xbox) to reset your skills.
  • You’ll be prompted by a dialog box with the following options:
    • All Samurai/Ninja Categories: Resets all skill points allocated to the Samurai/Ninja Style, including weapon skill trees.
    • Only Currently Displayed Category: Resets all skill points allocated in the currently opened skill tree.

If you want to respec all Samurai and Ninja Locks in Nioh 3, you’ll need to repeat this process twice. First, open any Samurai Style skill tree, select the reset option, and choose the “All Samurai Style Categories” option when prompted. Then, do the same for the Ninja side of the tree. This will refund all of your Ninja and Samurai Points, which will be visible in the top right corner of the screen.
