Passive skills in Nioh 3 can impact your playthrough in a variety of different ways, and while most give you simple stat boosts, others can completely change how you fight. A good example of this is The More The Merrier, a Common Skill (usable by both Samura/Ninja Styles) that lets players cancel actions by using Summon Talismans. This may seem odd or redundant, especially when Guardian Spirit Skills can do the same thing, but once you start incorporating it into your combos in Nioh 3, you may find that this skill is a lot more valuable than it seems.

You can find this skill in a corpse inside a hut in the Futamata region of the Warring States Era. You can reach this area by progressing through the main quest, though if you're already done with this timeline, you can always go back by teleporting to either the Abandoned Bamboo Grove Shrine or the Tealeaf Village Shrine.

Thankfully, the corpse holding The More The Merrier is in plain sight. Fight your way through the Takeda soldiers, then pick the skill up from the corpse in the hut. To equip it, head back to any Shrine, select the Skills Management menu, then find The More The Merrier under the Common Skills tab. This costs 4 points to equip; if you want to expand your Skill Point cap, you need to find the right Memorandum item.

This skill lets you cancel out of most animations by using any Summon Talisman, similar to how you'd do an animation cancel with a Guardian Spirit Skill. The best way to use The More The Merrier is to cancel out of long recovery animations. This makes the trade-offs of Martial Arts like Kurama Sword Dance a lot more manageable.

Perhaps more importantly, The More The Merrier lets you use Summon Talismans more smoothly while in a fight. Some summoned yokai are incredibly powerful, and you can use them to extend & finish combos or apply status effects in Nioh 3 without breaking the flow of combat. Here are some of our recommended Yokai Summon Talismans:

  • Hino-Enma paralyzes targets before swooping through them for good damage.
  • Jakotsu-Baba deals fantastic AoE damage.
  • Ryomen Sukuna will spin around and deal very good damage against everything he hits.
  • Skeleton Warrior will summon two archers that will continuously pelt enemies with arrows.
  • Scampuss summons two friendly Scampusses that will harass enemies by ramming into them, disrupting their attacks and damaging their Ki.
