Summary

  • A Nintendo Switch version of MySims has been leaked by several retailers.
  • The prematurely published listings suggest that the unannounced game will hit the market on November 19.
  • First released in 2007, MySims is an Animal Crossing-like life sim that spawned a spin-off series which has been dormant since 2010.

MySims is coming to the Nintendo Switch, according to several recently spotted retailer listings. This purported release would mark the long-awaited debut of The Sims franchise on Nintendo's hybrid console.

The latest mainline installment in the series, The Sims 4, predates Nintendo's newest console by two and a half years, having originally launched for PC in September 2014 before making its way to the PS4 and Xbox One three years later. And while the Switch has long proven to be a great home for life simulation games, EA's iconic franchise has so far evaded it.

MySims Nintendo Switch Port Leaked by Several Retailers

This state of affairs might finally change in the near future, according to some newly surfaced retailer listings that appear to betray the existence of a Switch version of MySims. Two such pages have recently emerged on the websites of Swiss retailer World of Games and German storefront Vitrex, with both of them being spotted by ResetEra Forum user --R.

MySims Possibly Landing on the Switch on November 19

Both pages list the release date of the MySims Switch port as November 19, 2024. Vitrex even put up a product image, though one that is likely a placeholder, not least because of its low resolution and the fact that it reuses the game's original cover artwork. Since these are third-party listings, their very existence suggests that the unannounced MySims Switch version will be getting a physical release.

What Is MySims?

Developed by the now-defunct Visceral Games studio, then known as EA Redwood Shores, MySims is a 2007 spin-off that caters to a younger audience than the mainline entries in the long-running franchise. To that end, the game features cartoonish graphics with Mii-like characters, and focuses on town building and decoration, as well as running errands for one's neighbors. Compared to the mainline games, MySims offers simplified socializing and doesn't have aging or a physical needs system. It hence essentially plays like an Animal Crossing clone.

The game originally debuted on the Wii and DS in September 2007. A simplified version of the life sim powered by Java 2 Micro Edition (J2ME) made its way to feature phones a year later, as did a PC port of its Wii version. While these newly leaked listings don't offer any hints as to what exact edition of the game might be coming to the Nintendo Switch, the Wii original seems like the likeliest candidate for a remaster, as it's most in line with modern sensibilities.

Over the three-year period ending in 2010, EA released five more entries in the MySims franchise: MySims Kingdom, Party, Racing, Agents, and SkyHeroes. If the company is now indeed planning to revisit the series by bringing its first entry to the Switch, then this port could very well be high-profile enough to warrant a Nintendo Direct announcement. While some recent industry rumblings suggested one such event is planned for September 2024, that particular show is rumored to be an Indie World showcase.

EA's life simulation franchise The Sims began in the year 2000 with a game of the same name that was, at one point, the highest-selling PC game of all time.

The main series games let players build a home, create a handful of characters, and then guide them through their relationships, careers, and goals.
