Those signed up for the Expansion Pack tier of Nintendo Switch Online can now play Banjo-Tooie through their subscription. Nintendo Switch Online's Expansion Pack tier is $49.99 per year, but for fans of old-school Nintendo games, it may very well be worth the price of admission.

The Expansion Pack tier of Nintendo Switch Online gives subscribers access to Game Boy Advance, Sega Genesis, and Nintendo 64 games on top of all the classics available in the base tier. New games are added to the Nintendo Switch Online's Expansion Pack tier on a regular basis, with the latest update adding one of the highest-rated Nintendo 64 games ever made.

Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers can now play the beloved 3D platformer Banjo-Tooie in its entirety. First released in 2000, Banjo-Tooie earned rave reviews from critics at the time and is indeed one of the Nintendo 64's highest-rated games. Delivering similar 3D platforming gameplay as its predecessor, Banjo-Tooie is noted for its significantly expanded worlds and for having some of the best graphics in the entire N64 library. When players are done with its single-player story, there are also multiplayer modes to check out, adding even more value to the game.

Now that Banjo-Tooie has been added to the Switch Online + Expansion Pack, subscribers can play through the whole N64 series on Nintendo's latest console. Banjo-Kazooie was added to the Expansion Pack tier two years ago, so fans have been waiting quite some time for the sequel. However, there is still one Banjo Nintendo 64 appearance that has yet to make its Switch Online + Expansion Pack debut.

Diddy Kong Racing is one of the major Nintendo 64 games still missing from Switch Online. It was also developed by Rare, and while it stars Nintendo's Diddy Kong, it also features multiple characters and IP owned by Microsoft, like the aforementioned Banjo-Kazooie as well as Conker's Bad Fur Day. But if other Rare-developed games can come to the Switch Online + Expansion Pack tier, there is certainly hope that the same can happen for Diddy Kong Racing.

Nintendo has teased big things for its Switch Online + Expansion Pack service in 2025, though it hasn't gone into more detail. 2025 is also the year that the next-generation Nintendo console is expected to hit the market. It's likely that more Nintendo 64 games are on the way, but it also seems that Nintendo has something else up its sleeve when it comes to the Switch Online + Expansion Pack.
