POPUCOM, a game released on PC in June, is coming to Nintendo Switch this winter. While Nintendo released the Switch 2 on June 5, the company’s 2017 hybrid console continues to get games, with POPUCOM being another example of this.
A new Nintendo Direct on September 12 brought many game announcements for fans to check out. While the company has already hosted several presentations following the Switch 2 launch, this latest September Nintendo Direct ran for approximately 60 minutes and covered a lot of ground. New announcements for titles like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie have made headlines, but various games from third-party developers are catching the attention of gamers as well.

POPUCOM Gets Holiday 2025 Release Window for Switch
Among the game announcements in the September 2025 Nintendo Direct was a trailer for POPUCOM, revealing that the multiplayer co-op game would be coming holiday 2025 to Switch. Developed by Hypergryph and published by Gryph Frontier, POPUCOM should appeal to platformer fans thanks to its vibrant world and puzzles that revolve around color. As seen in the trailer, some puzzles force players to swap between two colors of Pomu gel to shoot from their gun, forcing quick decisions during gameplay. The game also features super artifacts, which give players unique abilities to help progress. Besides the platforming and puzzle segments, there are a variety of bosses to tackle, and players can choose between a two-player story mode and Party Mode for up to four players.
POPUCOM has already earned praise from fans on PC, with a “Very Positive” overall review rating on Steam. Given its colorful art style that’s reminiscent of Splatoon, the game seems like a good fit for the Switch. Additionally, POPUCOM features couch co-op, making it easier to play with friends. This is a good thing considering that the game is multiplayer only. The price for the Switch version has not been revealed yet. However, the game has a Standard and “Too Many Clothes Edition” on Steam and the Epic Games Store, which sell for $19.99 and $24.99, respectively. With this in mind, the pricing for the Switch version could be similar.
While POPUCOM fans wait for an official release date on Switch, the Nintendo Direct revealed more details about other titles coming to the 2017 console. For example, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is coming in Spring 2026, giving fans a better idea of when to expect the next entry in the quirky series. Hopefully, the release date for POPUCOM will be announced soon for those interested in picking up the multiplayer co-op platform adventure game.
