The launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 has been a monumental success, with the console selling over 3.5 million units in its first four days, shattering previous company records and surpassing expectations. While some in the community were concerned that the price of the hardware and its first-party titles might deter consumers, this proved to be a non-issue, with reviews of the Switch 2 applauding its graphical improvements, GameChat functionality, and increased memory. While most players are enjoying their time with the console, others have taken to social media to share some concerns about the system itself.

Several Nintendo Switch 2 players have reported that their consoles are swelling (as reported by Automaton), which has raised concerns about the stability of the console's lithium-ion battery. A Japanese user took to Twitter to post pictures of their Switch 2, showing that the left-side back panel has begun to come away from the rest of the console after only two days of use. This wasn't the only concern to pop up online, as another user on Reddit shared that their Switch 2's back panel was already swollen when they took it out of the box. Understandably, after contacting Nintendo, the user was told to return the console, as a swollen battery could be a major fire hazard. Strangely, the Switch 2's battery isn't located near the swollen area of either of these consoles, indicating that it could potentially be a simple manufacturing error. Either way, Nintendo is taking these issues seriously, asking players to report anything odd with their consoles.

Earlier this month, some players also reported Joy-Con 2 stick drift issues, with this problem impacting some players immediately after taking the system out of the box. Beyond hardware issues, one player also reported that they had lost save files during a Switch 2 system transfer, costing them over 1,000 hours of progress in the Pokemon franchise.

Players will also want to be careful when utilizing third-party devices. Nintendo has banned some Switch 2 consoles connected to MIG Flash devices, which allows users to load multiple games on the console or utilize emulators. It's unclear whether Nintendo will pursue legal action, but those banned from online services for using the MIG Flash will be unable to utilize their console's warranty, as using the device violates the terms and conditions.
