NIS America has confirmed the release of The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon for Nintendo Switch 2. The game is coming to the console in January 2026 and will be the next chapter in the Trails subseries after The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak 2 was released in the West in February 2025.
Once again developed by Nihon Falcon, The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon was first released in 2024 in Asia for PC and consoles. In the story, the future of the continent of Zemuria is at risk, so humanity decides to explore space. As a result, Van, Ashen Chevalier Rean Schwarzer, and Father Kevin Graham will be put on a collision course with the secrets of Zemuria as they forge connections and master skills. Now, fans waiting for The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon will have another console to play the real-time and turn-based combat JRPG.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak 2 - How to Get S-Tokens (& What They're Used For)
Early on in The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak 2, you will come across a new currency called S-Tokens.
NIS America has announced that The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon will be released for the Nintendo Switch 2 in January 2026. According to the company, the Trails series will enter its final chapter with the upcoming game. The new entry in The Legend of Heroes series will introduce Shard Commands, Awakening, and Z.O.C. Mechanics, which provide party bonuses, temporarily increase the power of specific characters, and slow down enemies. Players will also be able to face Ouroboros in Grim Garten, a dungeon that allows them to use the “dream party” with characters from all over Calvard and beyond.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon Confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2
Previously, Nihon Falcom had confirmed the release of The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon for PS4, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch in 2025, with the date postponed to January 2026. Now, those who want an even more special experience playing the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 game can purchase The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon Limited Edition, available for pre-order exclusively at the NIS Online Store. Priced at $109.99, it will come with the base game, a collector's box, an art book, a Digipak soundtrack, a Steelbook, and an acrylic clock.
This is not the first announcement made by NIS America, which recently confirmed the release of Disgaea 7 Complete for Nintendo Switch 2. This will be an enhanced version of Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless, which will come with all released DLCs and bonus content, a new episode, and features such as uncapped stats.
