Nintendo Switch 2 owners are likely still trying to collect all the bananas in Donkey Kong Bananza, but there are new games on the horizon for them to look forward to as well. Nintendo launched the Switch 2 in June with a large lineup of games, mainly consisting of enhanced versions of previously-released games like Street Fighter 6, Yakuza 0, and Cyberpunk 2077. The crown jewel of the Switch 2 launch lineup was, of course, Mario Kart World, which came packed-in with the $499.99 bundle.

As far as exclusive games go, the Switch 2 launch lineup also included Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour, Fast Fusion, Survival Kids, and Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster. A little over a month later, Donkey Kong Bananza was added to the list of Switch 2 exclusive games, and stands out as the highest-rated game released for the system so far. In fact, Donkey Kong Bananza reviews have made it one of the highest-rated new game releases of the year with an impressive 91 overall score.

With Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza, Switch 2 has delivered critically-acclaimed games two months in a row. Early adopters of the home console/handheld hybrid may be wondering what's next, and while time will tell how fans and critics will react to the next batch of Switch 2 games, there are at least two more exclusive experiences on the way for August. Drag x Drive is one such Switch 2 exclusive, and it will launch as a $20 eShop-only game on August 14 alongside Madden NFL 26. Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar, a remake of the DS game Harvest Moon DS: Grand Bazaar, will then launch on August 27. One day later, on August 28, Kirby and the Forgotten Land: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World will hit store shelves.

New Switch Games for August 2025

  • Drag x Drive - August 14
  • Madden NFL 26 - August 14
  • Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar - August 27
  • Kirby and the Forgotten Land: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World - August 28

While there are currently only four new Switch 2 games confirmed for August 2025, the titles on deck are rather interesting. Drag x Drive is a multiplayer-only wheelchair basketball game that utilizes the Joy-Con 2's mouse functionality for its controls. It's definitely not something Nintendo would typically make, and so one has to wonder how it will perform. The same day Drag x Drive releases, sports game fans on the Switch 2 will also be treated to Madden NFL 26, the first new Madden NFL game to hit a Nintendo console since Madden NFL 13 was released on the Wii U 13 years ago.

A Nintendo Direct is rumored to be happening by the end of July 2025, and if so, it's possible even more games could be announced for the Switch 2's August 2025 lineup.

Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar marks yet another cozy game offering on the Switch 2, while Kirby and the Forgotten Land: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World is following in the footsteps of other Switch 1 games that have received significant Switch 2 upgrades, like Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, and most recently, Super Mario Party Jamboree. Kirby and the Forgotten Land on Switch 2 will not only include performance upgrades, but it will feature brand-new content in the form of the Star-Crossed World expansion. So while August 2025 isn't super busy for the Switch 2, there is still plenty for fans of the console to look forward to next month.
