The Nintendo Switch 2 GameCube controller is back in stock, just in time for the console's big launch on June 5. There are less than a couple of weeks to go before the Switch 2 hits stores, and gamers have been scrambling to secure a pre-order for the highly anticipated console. Just like the original Switch, the Switch 2 will have plenty of special peripherals to help make the gaming experience better, including a controller modeled after the Nintendo GameCube's iconic controller.

While the Joy-Con 2 remains the primary means of control for the Nintendo Switch 2, some players might prefer the more nostalgic GameCube controller, especially when they are playing Super Smash Bros. Or one of the classic GameCube titles available on Nintendo Switch Online's Expansion Pack tier. The Switch 2 version of the wireless GameCube controller has been available to order since the start of May 2025, but high demand has led to it constantly selling out as quickly as retailers can receive stock.

The Gamer reports that Nintendo Switch 2 GameCube controllers are once again in stock through the Nintendo website. However, while plenty of customers already have their own controllers ordered, there still might be enough demand that the website could run out again. At the very least, it seems that the Nintendo Switch 2 controller is still in stock at the time of writing, and there is currently no need to wait in an online queue.

Nintendo Switch 2’s GameCube Controller Is Selling Fast

The launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 itself is fast approaching, and some retailers are already receiving their initial Switch 2 shipments ahead of the big day. So far, anyone looking to pre-order the Switch 2 or any of its peripherals has had to act fast, as supply is limited and there have been reports of scalpers snatching up units to resell at inflated prices. Nintendo is making efforts to prevent this from being a major problem like it was for the launch of the PS5 and Xbox Series consoles in 2020, and people who have seen the launch day shipments think there will be enough for everyone.

Some gamers will want to enjoy these titles using the retro-style GameCube controller, though Nintendo has admitted that it might not be compatible with every Switch 2 game.
