The Switch 2 has received another round of fixes improving its backward compatibility, with the changes affecting five Switch 1 titles. Nintendo has also flagged issues with several other last-gen games on the Switch 2, signaling intention to address them in the near future.

Since officially announcing its latest console in January 2025, Nintendo has been clear that Switch 2 backward compatibility won't be absolute despite being extensive. The company cautioned that some Switch titles may not work fully due to specific hardware requirements, as is the case with Ring Fit Adventure, which comes with an accessory that's only compatible with the original Joy-Con. It also warned that certain older games could experience unforeseen issues on the new system that may take time to resolve.

Switch 2 Now Fully Backward Compatible With Warframe and 4 More Games

Nintendo's efforts to improve the console's backward compatibility have now continued with five additional fixes being rolled out. They target Warframe, Deemo Reborn, Ultra Age, Library of Ruina, and Powerful Pro Baseball 2024-2025. All of these titles should now be fully compatible with the Switch successor. Their fixes have been distributed with the Switch 2 20.5.0 update, launched at the tail end of September 2025.

The 20.5.0 update is a compact release that should only take a few seconds to download on a gigabit connection. Its official patch notes do not go into any details regarding the new Switch 2 backward-compatibility fixes—a pattern that Nintendo has already established with its last several console updates.

Simultaneously with this release, Nintendo updated the eShop pages of several Switch 1 titles with notices informing users of some newly identified compatibility issues on the Switch 2. There are five of these games in total: Jelly Troops, Transistor, Mugen Souls, Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning, and Subway Simulator 2025: City Train. Of those, only Jelly Troops has been flagged as currently unsupported by the Switch 2, on account of some unspecified progression problems.

  • Deemo Reborn
  • Library of Ruina
  • Powerful Pro Baseball 2024-2025
  • Ultra Age
  • Warframe

The other four are labeled as playable on the Switch 2, with some caveats. For instance, Transistor players are advised not to remove the console from the dock because doing so in certain parts of the game may stop it from "functioning correctly." Subway Simulator 2025: City Train was flagged for animation issues, while Mugen Souls reportedly has problems correctly displaying certain items after they are obtained. Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning previously had progression issues which have now been fixed, but some visual glitches remain in certain areas. Nintendo is investigating all of the newly acknowledged problems and is expected to attempt addressing them in the near future.
