Pyoro, a prominent leaker of Nintendo's games, gives another hint regarding a future Nintendo Direct involving Donkey Kong in some way. This leaker has had a fairly accurate track record when it comes to these kinds of things. For example, they had hinted at the Super Mario RPG remake and a new 2D Mario platformer before their official reveals at the June 2023 Nintendo Direct, along with other games like Everybody 1-2 Switch and Sonic Superstars. The newest hint from Pyoro was given on Twitter after their initial leaks regarding a Donkey Kong game at the next Direct.

The latest rumors suggest when the next Nintendo Direct will be taking place, with many claiming it will take place in the middle of September. This is expectation is backed up with the upcoming Tokyo Game Show 2023, where Nintendo usually holds a Direct ahead of the showcase. While one hasn't been officially confirmed yet however, Pyoro has been leaking what games will supposedly will be revealed at this presentation. More specifically, this new hint they gave points towards the game being a new Mario vs. Donkey Kong game.

A day after Pyoro's initial September Nintendo Direct hints, they made a set of tweets showing scenes from the Super Mario Bros. Theatrical film from earlier this year. The first hint was a GIF of Donkey Kong rolling around, along with a caption that referred to "who he is fighting," which was followed by a second tweet underneath. It showed a still of the Mario and Donkey Kong fight scene from the same film. This was the indication that Pyoro was hinting at a new Mario vs. Donkey Kong game rather than a new platformer like Donkey Kong Country.

This tidbit was then clarified further when a reply from Supahsta on Twitter asked if it would contain the minis, which are the collectible toys that originate from the mini subseries. Pyoro then confirmed that it would, which likely means that fans will see another puzzle platformer between the two original Nintendo rivals. The Mario vs. Donkey Kong subseries featured Donkey Kong as the antagonist, with the plot or playable characters usually revolving around him and the mini Mario toys.

The replies had some fans being underwhelmed at this possibly being the next game to involve the Donkey Kong IP. The last game in the series, 2015's Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars, received mixed reception. Despite Pyoro's accurate track record so far, this information should be taken with a grain of salt until an official announcement about either the next Nintendo Direct or this new Donkey Kong game is given.
