While Waluigi of Mario Bros. Fame has always had a dedicated fanbase, it arguably grew with the hopes that he was added to the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's roster. When he wasn't, several were likely disappointed, while others dedicated time to making a mod that adds the fan-loved character and arch-rival to Luigi to the game. It has recently gone even further as several dedicated fans have signed a petition in hopes that Waluigi is turned into an element.

Going by the name of King Creeper, this Waluigi fan has created a petition on Change.org to the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry to have Waluigi added to the periodic table. As of now, Element 119 is a hypothetical chemical element without a name (temporarily named Ununennium) that King Creeper has determined to be a problem that should be remedied. The proposed name would be Waluigium with its symbol either being Wa or WI.

While this would be a serious dedication to a fan-favorite Nintendo character stiffed by the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster, it doesn't seem likely that it would be approved. This hasn't stopped 2600+ from signing the petition by the time of this writing, though. It also seems as if the ultimate goal of the petition is to elicit a response from Nintendo, but considering the slow pace of the petition, that remains to be seen.

super smash bros ultimate dlc fighters leak, include waluigi

For those interested in checking out this petition themselves, they can find it here at Change.org. It remains possible that a huge rush of signers could skyrocket this number to enough to receive a response from Nintendo if not the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry, but given that this petition has been around for a month, it seems more like Waluigi's relationship with the periodic table will go the way of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Even without Waluigi, Nintendo's crossover fighting game seems to be doing just fine, with several interesting add-ons on the way. According to this leaked list of every fighter coming to the game, players will get to see guest fighters from DOOM, Dragon Quest, Ninja Gaiden, and Minecraft.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate  is out now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
