Tao Fruits are Key Items in Nine Sols that grant Skill Points and increase slash and talisman damage. As indicated by the in-game description, those effects are activated through "absorption" of the fruit, and some fans may be confused about exactly how that action is performed. This guide is here to alleviate that confusion, and it will also detail the locations of the Tao Fruits in Nine Sols.
The section detailing the locations of the Tao Fruits is a work-in-progress and will be updated over time.
Nine Sols: Bell Puzzle Solution (Do Re Mi So La Achievement)
Players who are trying to unravel the mystery of the Daybreak Tower's music sheet can learn how to solve Nine Sol's bell puzzle here.
Nine Sols: How to Use Tao Fruit
To put things simply, if a player has collected a Tao Fruit, then they have "absorbed" it and received its effects. Metroidvania fans can confirm this by watching their Skill Points tracker closely when picking up a Tao Fruit, as the points that they grant are awarded immediately. The slash and talisman damage increases that these Key Items provide are not so easily confirmed, though, as those values are not displayed in any of the menus.
Nine Sols: Tao Fruit Locations
Tao Fruits are always extracted from the flowers that grow from the bodies of deceased Solarians. Here are details on where to find those flowers:
Tao Fruit #1
There is a Tao Fruit in Power Reservoir (West), a room that players will visit while pursuing Kuafu. To reach it, Soulslike fans should go right from the room's Root Node and stand on the ledge that is just past the statue that depicts a reclining Kuafu. Here, players should activate their Mystic Nymph, pass through the wall that is just below the platform, and hack the button that is inside. That hacking will cause a door beneath the platform to open, and fans should follow the path to the left to reach the Solarian body.
Tao Fruit #2
There is a Tao Fruit next to the Root Node in the Galactic Dock. Players can reach that room as soon as they have obtained the Tai-Chi Kick ability in Nine Sols, and here is the path that they should follow:
- Start at the entrance to the Four Seasons Pavilion.
- Go to the right, descend the stairs, and follow the path to the left. Use Tai-Chi Kicks to vault from green orbs and dodges to bypass lasers.
- Continue left to reach a gap that can be crossed with a green orb. Fall into that gap.
- Follow the path to the left.
Tao Fruit #3
There is a Tao Fruit in Water & Oxygen Synthesis, a room that fans of hard video games will visit while pursuing Goumang. Here are details on how to reach it:
- Go to the bottom left corner of the room.
- Use the grappling hook to go to the left when the orange water is not falling.
- Climb the rope that is covered with explosive organisms.
- Traverse the grappling hook challenge.
Greater Tao Fruit #1
Fans of 2D games will receive a Greater Tao Fruit upon defeating Yanlao, the Sol who resides in the Warehouse Zone.
