Although Henry Cavill is known for playing Superman and starring in Netflix's The Witcher, he's had an excellent acting career that also includes a crime thriller that fans are discovering a few years after its release. As fans wait to find out more about Cavill's live-action movie Voltron, it's the perfect time to look back on some of his most riveting movie roles. The actor's career began with the 2001 thriller Laguna, which is also called Vendetta and isn't talked about much. Things really took off for him when he played the charming, smart, and likeable Clark Kent, and he's made some compelling choices since then, too.

Although his time on The Witcher ended in 2023, Cavill is still working steadily, and he has a few projects in the works, including Enola Holmes 3 and In The Grey. While one thriller starring Henry Cavill has a low Rotten Tomatoes score, fans are enjoying it on the streaming service where Taylor Sheridan's epic Western Yellowstone can be found.

Fans Can Stream Henry Cavill's Crime Thriller Night Hunter On Paramount+

Henry Cavill in Night Hunter

As noted by FlixPatrol, Night Hunter is doing well on Paramount+. It's a perfect example of how sometimes, a good movie has a low Rotten Tomatoes score, and even though these low scores sometimes make someone want to skip a film or TV show, that would be a shame here. Night Hunter, which is also called Nomis, has only 14% on the Tomatometer and a 51% Audience Score.

Written and directed by David Raymond and released in 2018, Night Hunter follows Detective Walter Marshall (Henry Cavill) who is investigating a serial killer along with a vigilante named Michael Cooper (Ben Kingsley) and Rachel Chase (Alexandra Daddario), a psychologist. Both the intense, dark storyline and the talented cast make Night Hunter stand out among the crowd of crime thrillers.

As Marshall continues with his search, Cooper's daughter Lara (Eliana Jones) is abducted, which complicates the situation and adds a terrifying and disturbing layer. Other cast members include Stanley Tucci and Nathan Fillion, who is known for playing funny and charming cop John Nolan on The Rookie and who is rarely seen in a dark crime thriller.

What movies are in the Top 10 on Paramount+ on June 4th, 2025 (according to Flix Patrol)?

  1. Gladiator II
  2. The Promised Land
  3. Top Gun: Maverick
  4. Mission Impossible - Dead Reckoning
  5. Take Cover
  6. World War Z
  7. Mission: Impossible
  8. Mission: Impossible II
  9. Smile 2
  10. A Quiet Place Part II

While waiting to find out if Cavill could play James Bond next, it's the perfect time to watch Night Hunter and see his great performance. Fans were impressed by his work in the movie and discussed it on Reddit. One Redditor wrote:

"i just watched Nomis and I think it is one of HC best acting performances so far..."

Redditor @sina-s9 emphasized that fans shouldn't pay attention to the negative reviews and low scores on Rotten Tomatoes and IMDb:

"a prime example of 'Don't judge a movie by it's IMDB score.'"

Night Hunter has a 5.9/10 rating on IMDb, which might convince someone to avoid the movie entirely. However, Cavill's performance is compelling, and he leans into his character's emotions as he tries to halt the killer and save the girl who has been kidnapped. The fan also said, "The overall atmosphere of the movie is very chilling and nicely done."

Night Hunter Is A Perfect Example Of Henry Cavill's Interesting Career

Zack Snyder’s Justice League Henry Cavill As Superman

Night Hunter is worth watching since it's so different from Henry Cavill's other projects. Cavill has played many roles besides Superman in 2013's Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Justice League. Although he's known for action movies, he's had a more versatile career than some might assume.

Cavill played Sherlock Holmes in the 2020 movie Enola Holmes and the 2022 sequel Enola Holmes 2, which stars Stranger Things cast member Millie Bobby Brown in the title role. Besides reprising his role in the third movie, he also played the smart Agent Aubrey Argylle in the funny 2023 spy movie Argylle. Some of his other compelling parts include a paramedic in the 2009 horror movie Blood Creek and roles in a variety of period pieces including Tristan & Isolde and The Count of Monte Cristo, which were released in 2006 and 2002.

Cavill talked about his career in an interview with The Talks and said that the popularity of The Witcher has been helpful. He said:

"When you're piecing together projects can be considered commodities, and your commodity is popular in one media, then someone else will go, 'Hey, that’s a great commodity, let's put it in our project.' And then hopefully, we'll get more people to come watch our movie or our TV show. So the success of The Witcher has an effect on that side of business as an actor."
