Not many shonen anime series have gone on to become as iconic as the likes of My Hero Academia, a sensational franchise created by the talented Horikoshi. My Hero Academia started all the way back in 2014, but sadly, the series came to an end in late 2025 with its final TV anime season officially concluding. Since then, the ending of an iconic shonen series has left a major gap behind. While no other series will be able to fully replace My Hero Academia, a new 2024 hit manga, titled Ichi The Witch, could become the next My Hero Academia once it gets an anime adaptation and reach new heights as one of the biggest shonen series.
My Hero Academia Officially Ended in 2025
My Hero Academia Manga Ended Late 2024
- MHA’s tv anime concluded in 2025
- MHA still has a few upcoming projects
My Hero Academia had a long and successful run, both in terms of its manga and TV anime. The My Hero Academia manga started all the way back in 2014 by its creator, Kohei Horikoshi. The series went on to continue serialization in Jump for around 10 years. With chapter 430, My Hero Academia's manga came to an end in late 2024.
At that point, however, the franchise still had a year to go, thanks to the anime series. What truly marked the end of the My Hero Academia series was the end of its anime adaptation. My Hero Academia's final TV anime season came late 2025, and it officially concluded in 11 episodes. With that, the main franchise of My Hero Academia is officially over.
Of course, there are still some projects for the franchise that are ongoing. One such example is My Hero Academia's extra episode, which is coming in 2026, titled My Hero Academia: More. The special episode will offer an expanded ending for the franchise as adapted from the true final chapter of the series, My Hero Academia chapter 431. It's going to be exciting, but it'll only offer a little more content. That said, fans don't need to worry too much, because the manga has already found a perfect replacement in Weekly Shonen Jump in the form of Ichi the Witch. At the rate at which Ichi the Witch is progressing, it is only a matter of time before it receives an anime adaptation, which can then go on to become the next My Hero Academia.
Ichi the Witch Is A Generational Series That Could Become The New MHA Anime
- Ichi the Witch has sensational sales for a new series
- Weekly Shonen Jump knows the huge potential that Ichi the Witch has
It goes without saying that there is no other franchise that could truly come to replace My Hero Academia, but some series do come close. One new series that could go on to be a great replacement for My Hero Academia is a manga series currently serializing in Jump, known as Ichi the Witch.
Ichi the Witch is a rather new manga series, and it actually kick-started around the same time that My Hero Academia ended, that is, late 2024. Ichi the Witch has now been serializing for a bit over a year, and it's no secret that it has largely been a big success for Weekly Shonen Jump. For a rather new series, Ichi the Witch has done incredible sales, being one of the highest new selling mangas for the magazine. Fans have been loving the story which follows the main character Ichi, who is the only main male witch in the story. Ichi the Witch, just like My Hero Academia, has a fun cast of characters that fans will come to fall in love with.
On top of all of that, fans should remember that Ichi the Witch became as popular as it is today in part thanks to Horikoshi, MHA’s creator. Horikoshi highly recommended the manga to his fans and that certainly played a role in elevating both the popularity and the sales of this series.
Ichi the Witch still has a long way to go, but it has major potential. Given its potential, it wouldn't be a surprise for the fans to see this series go on to receive an anime adaptation soon enough, and then become the perfect My Hero Academia replacement.
At the moment, there aren't too many anime that can stand as a true replacement for My Hero Academia. After all, it was a shonen sensation that solidified its place among the best after the conclusion of series such as Naruto. Now that My Hero Academia has ended, a new anime series needs to step up and solidify itself as the next generation leader, and this series could be Ichi the Witch, which is set to receive an anime adaptation in the coming years.
Ichi The Witch Anime Is The Next My Hero Academia
For a series to truly be the next My Hero Academia, the plot needs to be incredibly compelling, and more than that, the series needs to feature an incredibly exciting power system, just as quirks featured were in the world of MHA. In these regards, Ichi the Witch is the perfect replacement that anyone could get. The world of Ichi the Witch is filled with many mages who utilize various magiks, just as quirks are used in the world of My Hero Academia. The mage system is quite similar to a hero setting, only with a far more adventurous tone to it, and it is something that fans would love. Even the characterization of the protagonist is somewhat similar to Izuku Midoriya, and the side characters are just as exciting as fans were used to seeing in My Hero Academia.
So far, fans don't know much about Ichi the Witch receiving an anime adaptation, but it goes without saying that when it goes on to receive one, the series will truly reach incredibly high heights. My Hero Academia can successfully conclude with its final episode in the coming months, and then Ichi the Witch can rise as a new leader of next-gen shonen anime, especially taking into account the fact that Horikoshi himself passed on the torch to this exciting new series.
If Ichi the Witch does go on to get an anime, fans do hope that a good studio picks it up. Studio Bones, for example, would be a great studio to adapt this new Shonen Jump hit. Along with a great studio, Ichi the Witch would also require a phenomenal staff at the helm of the anime, because this series could truly go on to redefine modern shonen. If handled correctly with a talented staff that is given ample time, Ichi the Witch can go on to become the next My Hero Academia and surprise all the fans.
At the moment, many fans are under the apprehension that true shounen anime is slowly dying, with series like Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia having ended, and One Piece slowly edging closer to its end. It truly does feel like the shonen anime era is officially shifting forever, but fans only need to take a proper look at the newer anime series that are on the way, such as Ichi the Witch. If this adaptation is done well, then Ichi will show the world that the true spirit of shonen will continue to live on for many years to come.
