Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions is the next major Harry Potter video game, releasing over a year after the critically-acclaimed and best-selling open world action-RPG Hogwarts Legacy hit store shelves.

Hogwarts Legacy was a massive success at the time of its release in 2023, with the game still finding itself at the top of sales charts. Hogwarts Legacy proved that there is a great appetite for Harry Potter video game experiences, and so it's no surprise that more is on the way. The upcoming Quidditch Champions game may scratch a different itch than Hogwarts Legacy, but it certainly has potential to be a big hit as well.

The game is a sports game with a career mode and online multiplayer, as well as a slew of customization options. Quidditch Champions also features iconic Harry Potter characters on its roster, so those that would rather play as Harry, Ron, Draco, or Cho Chang have that option. The game is releasing at a budget price of $29.99, so Harry Potter fans can get the next Wizarding World game for relatively cheap.

Those on PlayStation don't even have to pay the $30 to play Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions on September 3. It's already been confirmed that Quidditch Champions is one of the free PS Plus games for September 3. Those that play the game through PlayStation Plus will get the same experience as those on other platforms. They will even be treated to the Firebolt Supreme Broom Skin pre-order bonus.

PlayStation, PC, and Xbox gamers will all have the chance to check out Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions on September 3, but Nintendo gamers will have to wait a little longer. Quidditch Champions is coming to the Nintendo Switch, but the Switch port is currently without a release date. It's still set to come at some point in 2024, but fans on Nintendo's platform will have to wait to learn exactly when they will get to play the game.

While it's a bummer that Switch gamers have to wait longer than expected, if Quidditch Champions is as fun as its gameplay trailers make it look, then September 3 should be a big day for fans of the Harry Potter franchise and give them something to play while they wait for news on the inevitable Hogwarts Legacy 2. Hogwarts Legacy 2 is rumored to be in development, though an official announcement hasn't been made at the time of this writing. When the game is announced, it will be interesting to see if it features Quidditch, or if the sport will remain exclusive to the Qudditch Champions game.
