Anticipation for the next generation of consoles is undoubtedly building and it seems that Xbox may have multiple consoles to deliver to players. While the Xbox events have only showcased the third-party games coming to the console so far, many have been impressed with the specs that the Xbox Series X boasts. However, for players on a budget, there may be a cheaper version of the console which carries over the key improvements of the next generation.

There have been rumors that the Xbox Series would have multiple iterations as the name suggests. This would not be a new practice in the gaming industry and the last generation saw multiple different consoles that utilized console technology in different ways. However, many fans will wonder when this console iteration will be released and how it will interact with the rest of the gaming market.

Senior Editor at The Verge, Tom Warren, has now revealed more evidence that another Xbox console is coming. It seems that the codenames Anaconda and Lockhart have been used for an Xbox new console, much like Project Scarlett for the Xbox Series X, and Warren shared an image that supported the existence of an Anaconda console. The image showed the image of a snake on the hardware of an Xbox console, although it is unclear exactly how this differs from the other console. Many will now wonder when the other versions of the console will be announced and how they can create a unique selling point to entice customers.

Warren also drew attention to the Microsoft Game Development Kit information that stated that there are "Project Scarlett Consoles." It seems that this image, alongside rumor and the phrasing of Microsoft's statements, suggests that there will be more Xbox Series consoles. A leaked document raises a Project Lockhart profiling mode that Warren claims will allow games to run on a less impressive technology that seems to be "7.5GB of usable RAM, a slightly underclocked CPU speed, and around 4 teraflops of GPU performance." Despite the lower performances, it is still an impressive console and it could be an interesting factor in the pricing of next-generation consoles.

It will be interesting to see if the Lockhart or Anaconda version of the console is revealed at the next Xbox Event and if the specifications for the console are a downgrade alongside a price reduction or something completely different. It seems that if the Lockhart version of this console delivers a low price and a reasonable performance, it could be a useful way for Xbox to boost sales.
