It seems as though a new Xbox controller is set to be revealed in the near future and then released in October 2024. Microsoft has regularly released new controllers for its latest line of Xbox consoles. Also a popular choice among PC gamers, the latest Xbox controllers have earned high praise for their design, serving as a smart step forward from the Xbox One hardware.
Every few months, it seems Xbox gamers have new controller variants to check out. Microsoft has released a variety of specially-themed Xbox controllers, giving fans a wide selection of different colors to choose from. Not only that, but gamers can also use the Xbox Design Lab to create their very own custom-made controllers if they so desire. Now yet another new Xbox controller is on the horizon, and it will reportedly be announced and released in short order.
Latest Xbox Controller Made An Annoying Change
A gamer online notices an annoying change with the most recent Xbox controller release, which is sure to frustrate some Xbox Series X/S fans.

New Xbox Controller Coming in October
- Ghost Cipher Special Edition
- Believed to be translucent
- September 24 reveal date, October 8 release date
- $69.99 price
Last August, Microsoft released the Sky Cipher controller, which was its first see-through controller for the Xbox Series X era of consoles. The Sky Cipher is blue in color, so one has to imagine that the Ghost Cipher will be going for a different look. Ghosts are generally depicted as white, so it's possible that the new Xbox controller will also be white, but that's just speculation at this time. If the report about the new Xbox controller's reveal date is accurate, then fans should find out about its coloring and everything else next week.
It will be interesting to see what colors future translucent Xbox controllers take on. If sales for the controllers are high enough, one has to imagine that the line-up will eventually run the gamut. But while it's always exciting whenever a new controller hits the market, there are undoubtedly those who are more interested in more substantial Xbox hardware.
Microsoft has already confirmed that a next-generation Xbox console is in development, though further details are unavailable at the time of this writing. Whenever this next-gen Xbox console hits the market, it will be interesting to see if it comes with a brand-new controller, or if it sticks with what's been established by the Xbox Series X line.
