Amazon Games has revealed the details about the open beta for New World: Aeternum, the console revision of the original, which broke records when it launched in 2021. Being dubbed a spiritual successor of that game, New World: Aeternum will feature the same content, including 2023’s Rise of the Angry Earth expansion. But to prepare it for launch on consoles, the developer has overhauled the whole experience, enhanced performance, and introduced a multitude of new content, gameplay mechanics, storylines, and native controller support.

Aeternum, which launches on October 15, will also be available to PC players. Those who own the original base game will get a free upgrade, though they will still need to purchase the Rise of the Angry Earth expansion separately if they don't already have it. One of the more exciting features arriving with New World: Aeternum is cross-platform support, which will allow gamers on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC to enjoy the experience together.

The open beta of New World: Aeternum was announced in August, but details about what it would entail were not clear until now. The beta will run for three days, from September 13 – 16 at 9 AM PT, and will be open to players in North and South America, Europe, and APAC. Gamers on all thee platforms – PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S — will have the opportunity to test the new cross-platform functionality.

During the open beta, players will be able to earn exclusive New World: Aeternum armor skins that will be made accessible when the game launches on October 15. The “Aeternian Trailblazer” title will be earned just by participating in the beta, and different items in the “Aeternian Adventurer” armor skin set will be unlocked as characters level up to 25.

Character leveling will be capped at 30 in the New World: Aeternum open beta, but that will still give players plenty to do. They can join a faction at level 17, the 3v3 arena PvP game mode will unlock at level 20, and the Expedition called the Amrine Excavation is recommended for players at least level 25, just in time to flaunt their full “Aeternian Adventurer” armor skin set. And if the beta is enticing enough to lure gamers to preorder, they’ll receive the very majestic-looking Azoth Stalker Wolf Mount.

New World: Aeternum already had a closed beta test in July, but this is the first time everybody will be able to check out the revamped version of the action MMORPG before its official release. As happens with many games, player count has been steadily falling for New World, particularly in the last year. Hopefully, this open beta and the launch of New World: Aeternum in October will breathe new life into the open-world MMO.
