On October 15, New World will rebrand itself as New World: Aeternum, bringing a variety of content updates and improvements to the game. New World: Aeternum will also finally be released on current-gen consoles, supporting cross-play between all platforms.

Amazon Games’ New World has been out on PC for just over three years now, and the game is celebrating its third birthday with a huge new update. Whether players will be returning to the game, picking it up for the first time, or for the players who have been along the whole time, there will be something for everyone in New World: Aeternum’s upcoming October 15 update, making it a great time to jump into the game.

New World: Aeternum Has Come a Long Way Since Its Initial Release

When New World first launched, it struggled to find its mark between its PvP and PvE playerbase with an endgame experience that fell short of fans’ expectations, but a lot has changed since then. With over three years’ worth of post-launch updates for New World: Aeternum driven by player feedback, alongside all the new content coming in the October 15 update, now is arguably the best time for players to get into the game for the first time, or for returning players to come back to experience some of the latest content and improvements to the MMORPG.

This refreshed version of the game will become the new standard version available for players on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S when the game launches. While on PC, players who already own the base game and the Rise of the Angry Earth DLC will receive this update for free.

What to Expect From New World: Aeternum’s Console Release and October 15 Update

The new update for New World: Aeternum will be introducing a massive variety of content and improvements to the game. Some of the biggest standout additions of this update are the improvements to the new player experience and the new endgame activities for both PvE and PvP.

  • New 10-Player Raid: The Hive of the Gorgons
  • New Artifacts
  • New Seasonal Reward Track

New World: Aeternum Will Provide a Level Playing Field for New and Returning Players

The fresh-start worlds will be a great chance for new or returning players to get into the game in this new update, starting a new character in New World: Aeternum from a level playing field, which will be especially useful for players interested in New World: Aeternum’s PvP activities. These restarted worlds will also make matchmaking for PvE activities easier, as more players will be engaging in the early-game activities on these servers.

New and returning players will still be able to continue playing and creating new characters in legacy worlds, instead of starting a new character in New World: Aeternum on the fresh start worlds.

New World: Aeternum Will Be Expanding the Endgame Experience with new Seasons, Events, PvE, and PvP Activities

One of the biggest criticisms of New World from the game’s initial release on PC was that the endgame experience didn’t quite reach its full potential. The game has always had an active PvP community, but the endgame PvE activities were much less lively, especially compared to other MMOs like New World: Aeternum. Flash forward to New World’s refresh as New World: Aeternum, these issues have been heavily addressed over the past three years, and the upcoming October 15 update will give players even more ways to play in New World: Aeternum’s endgame, whether it’s PvP, PvE, or Seasonal Events.
