How to Set Up Camp in New World: Aeternum

The playable area in New World: Aeternum is vast, and if you find yourself in need of some essential supplies while you're out in the wilderness, then setting up a camp is the way to go. The process itself is quick and easy, and if you find yourself dying a lot, having a camp nearby can save you a lot of time and frustration.

The ability to make a camp is unlocked very early on, and you can do it regardless of what starting class you pick in New World: Aeternum. If you've just come back to the game, or if you're a completely new player who got lost while doing the main quests, here's a quick refresher on the basics of using your camp.

Making a camp in New World: Aeternum — New World Aeternum Camp building

You can place a camp in New World: Aeternum by pressing the Y button on your keyboard. For anyone using the controller, you instead do this by holding the UP button on your D-pad to open a radial wheel, then selecting the campfire icon at the top. If you can't place a camp, make sure to do the main story quests first.

Camps can be placed on flat or slightly angled terrain, provided that the area is not inside the boundaries of a stronghold or landmark. Once you've placed it, you'll need 5 Green Wood and 1 Flint. Interact with the camp that you've placed to start building, and once all the materials have been placed, take a few steps back. A fully-built camp will pop up, offering you temporary respite, though it's not as cozy or fancy as owning a whole house in New World: Aeternum.

You can only place one camp at a time. Any attempt at placing another one will destroy the old one.

Camp Crafting

You can craft a variety of basic items in your camp by interacting with it. Doing so will open up a menu showing all the things you can make, from simple tools to consumables. If you know how to fish in New World: Aeternum, you can cook the fish you catch in your camp, provided you know the right recipes.

Upgrading Your Camp

Players can upgrade their camps by reaching certain level milestones. The more you play, the fancier your camp will become. Camps are upgraded once players hit levels 10, 15, 30, 40, and 55, though you may need to complete some quests in order to see actual changes. Make sure to check your quest log if you've noticed that your camp isn't getting upgraded to the next tier.
