Iron is one of the first few types of resources players will encounter in New World: Aeternum. It's the baseline material for crafting low-tier equipment, and it'll be one of the building blocks for players who are trying to get certain trade skills up to snuff.
There are many recipes in the game that use Iron, and if you're using certain New World: Aeternum class archetypes like the Destroyer or Soldier, you'll want to gather as much Iron as you can to get some early gear upgrades.
New World: Aeternum - How to Play Music
Here's what you need to know how to play musical instruments and the buffs they provide in New World: Aeternum
Where To Find Iron Ore In New World
You can get raw Iron Ore by mining the many Iron Veins spread across the map. You can typically find these on hills, crags, and mountains. One of the best early game Iron farming spots is right between Monarch's Bluff and Windsward.
The map above shows a particular spot where players can easily get hundreds of Iron per run. The spots marked in red indicate the locations of Iron Ore veins, though they're far from the only ones in this location. If no Iron veins are around, then that means other players have recently been there. This is typically the case during the early weeks of a fresh start server in New World: Aeternum.
The spot above also has plenty of Young Trees and Wolves, making it a great spot for leveling Logging and Skinning for new players.
As a rule of thumb, rocky and craggy areas almost always have some Iron Ore veins on them, which is why Monarch's Bluff is one of the best spots for farming Iron early. Open your map, head to any mountainous area in Monarch's Bluff, and you're bound to see some Iron.
The Trading Post
Since Iron is such a useful resource early on, you can expect to see tons of it being sold at your local Trading Post. Prices don't usually go for more than 1.00 Gold, though expect this to be much more expensive than usual if you're on a fresh start server.
As such, selling Iron is also a great way to make money early in New World: Aeternum. Players who are leveling their Weaponsmithing, Smelting, and Armoring skill will need lots of Iron to fuel their progress, and if you don't mind doing some honest work, you can get some quick coin just by selling Iron to players.
Before you go mining in the mountains, make sure to bring some upgraded harvesting tools. You can either craft your own at a town's Workshop, or you can buy one that another player has made. Don't forget that harvesting tools can come with perks, so try to see if the ones you got have any.
