Harvesting in New World: Aeternum can be extremely time-consuming, and leveling up this Trade Skill is seriously harsh, more so for new players who come into the game and want to get into weaving the best Bags and Clothes for their characters. However, harvesting is not only about getting fiber for Weaving but also about a lot of important elements for the Cooking Skill, Arcana, and other Trade Skills that require Harvested Materials.

New World: Aeternum - How to Level Up Fast

Here are a few things you can do to reach New World: Aeternum's endgame as quickly as possible.

First, players should learn to familiarize themselves with the Harvesting system, what tools they need, what materials they can pick up with it, and even the best farming routes to level up that Trade Skill.

How To Harvest In New World: Aeternum

The basics of Harvesting are quite simple: players need to approach a resource node and press the E button on their keyboard, Triangle button (PS5), or X button (Xbox) to interact with the node.

In order to Harvest, players need to have a Sickle, which comes in various Tiers from 1 to 5.

Every "gathering" Trade Skill is associated with a list of items/materials players can get, and once they level up the profession, they will unlock "tracking" for said resources. These nodes will display as small icons on the compass above the screen. For example, the Hemp Fiber Icon will be a small pink leaf with a characteristic pattern. Other similar resources — like Mushrooms (which can also yield Pigments) and special resources (like Bulbs and Flowers) — have their own Icons.

Players will be able to gather certain nodes depending on their level. From level 1 to 50, it will be mostly Herbs and Hemp, but at level 25, players will unlock elemental flowers and bulbs, so looking up to them while they do a harvesting route is a good way to get extra Trade Skill Mastery (experience).

Finally, there's a chance to find Super Rare, Epic, and Legendary resources if players pay attention to Magical Creatures spread throughout the map. They're mostly hidden in plain sight and produce a characteristic noise depending on their element when the player approaches. These can be harvested at any level and always provide a good boost to the Harvesting levels.

New World is more fun when you play with friends. If you can't figure out how to do that, this guide can help.

How To Level Up Harvesting Fast In New World: Aeternum

The best way to level up Harvesting in New World: Aeternum is by gathering everything players can get their hands on, from plants to berries, vegetables, elemental flowers, mushrooms, and Magical creatures. But, there are a number of things players can do to increase their Harvesting level more efficiently:

  • Pick up a farming route and follow it for a while. Nodes are not procedural, so they'll respawn in the same spot after a while, so players can go and harvest them again after a short time.
  • The ideal routes for starters are between Monarch's Bluff and Windsward's surrounding area (1-17) and are filled to the brim with Hemp, Herbs, and Berries.
    • A detailed video on these routes is included below.
  • Equip tools with the "Mastery Perk," which will increase the amount of Trade Skill Mastery players earn each time they Harvest a node.
    • The same can be said about specialized equipment, like the Harvester Set, which comes with full Perks that boost resource yield and mastery points gained.
  • Equip tools that boost Harvesting Speed — this is a must, since this will make players able to farm more efficiently.
  • When upgrading standing with a Territory, players will be able to pick a certain boon each time they increase a Standing level. Picking the Harvesting Speed boon is also a good idea to increase Harvesting leveling efficiency — and it will help with all other Trade Skills related to gathering as well.

It is also important to mention that Harvesting is related to the Intelligence Attribute and its perks. Choosing the Intelligence attribute branch offers a lot of important bonuses:

  • Perk unlocked with 25 Points: +10% Harvesting Speed.
  • Perk unlocked with 50 Points: +5% chance to find Azoth when Harvesting.
  • Perk unlocked with 100 Points: +50 maximum encumbrance.
  • Perk unlocked with 150 Points: 10% reduced weight for all Harvested items.
  • Perk unlocked with 200 Points: +20% harvesting Speed.
  • Perk unlocked with 250 Points: +10% yield when Harvesting.
  • Perk unlocked with 300 Points: 25% reduction in Azoth travel cost.
  • Perk unlocked with 350 Points: 10% chance of finding rare items while Harvesting.

If players are dedicated to Weaving, Arcane, or Armor Crafting, they'll probably already be using the Intelligence build. If not, consider taking advantage of these Attribute perks.

Best Areas For Leveling Harvesting In New World: Aeternum

Each player should be able to discern which is the best farming route they want to follow, mostly basing themselves on how many nodes they can collect in a certain amount of time, but to make things easier for them, here's a summary on the best farming routes to level up Harvesting faster:

  • Level 1-50+: As showcased in the video above, the region between Monarch's Bluff shoreline and Windsward's shoreline is packed with level 1-50 nodes to make most players climb above the first soft cap in the game. Afterward, players should move a little bit west, towards the Central Windsward Watch area, a small isle between rivers accessible through a small bridge on the roads.
  • Level 50+: The Central Windsward Watch area: Players will surely remember this area since it's a huge plain filled with Bison (also a good place for completing Hunting Quests and Leveling Up Skinning). In this part of the map, though, there are at least 56 nodes of Hemp scattered around, so going around the island and collecting them will surely boost the player's level greatly.
  • Level 100-150+: Everfall Forests, and surrounding areas. Players will need to be at least level 17-25 to roam around safely. There are several Light Blooms, Dragonglory, Soulsprout and Silkweed patches around this area. It will suffice for players to rise up to 150.
  • Level 150-200+: North Brightwood - Morgenstadt/Great Cleave Salt Lake is the area where players should head next. From there, it all comes to gathering plants such as Aloe and Spinfiber until they reach Level 200. After that, they will be able to reach Level 205 with a little bit of extra effort, and that means they will be able to gather most of the ingredients in New World: Aeternum.
