Marvel Studios is digging deeper into comic book history in their new and highly anticipated film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.  Marvel is back with an unbelievable new teaser trailer for the long-awaited film. The trailer had a special viewing slot during the NBA countdown and was subsequently uploaded to social media for all fans to see.

The trailer centers around the charismatic Shang-Chi (Simu Lui) as he struggles to accept his place as a warrior in the Ten Rings organization and instead try to live a "normal" life in San Francisco. Throughout the trailer, viewers can glimpses of Shang-Chi's upbringing with both his father and mother teaching him different forms of martial arts. Shang-Chi can also be seen contemplating the ethics of his role and of others, possibly the reason for his attempted escape to San Francisco.

First and foremost the trailer is full of awesome and intense fight scenes and includes some special unexpected appearances. Near the end of the trailer, what appears to be the Hulk villain Abomination, who hasn't appeared in the MCU since the 2008 release of The Incredible Hulk, can be seen fighting what looks like Doctor Strange's sidekick Wong in a steel cage. This could potentially be some minor setup for both the upcoming Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness, as well as the Disney Plus She-Hulk show.

Shang-Chi's character first appeared in comic books in the early 1970s touting his excellent kung fu skills. In the upcoming movie, Shang-Chi can be seen using a blend of martial arts, mastering unarmed and weaponry-based wushu styles, nunchaku, and jian. It was rumored that Simu Liu, who is performing the majority of his own martial arts for the film, had to put on over ten pounds in muscle and train extensively. The urgent need for Shang-Chi to return to his role in the Ten Rings and ancient grounds behind the film recall a similar situation the character Cole Young in the latest Mortal Kombat film found himself in.

The film will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (Just Mercy). Other than Simu Lui starring as Shang-Chi other notable actors in the film include  Awkwafina (Crazy Rich Asians) as his friend Katy, and Tony Leung Chiu‑wai (Infernal Affairs) as his father, who is also the Mandarin. The intense teaser is sure to provide a gripping new movie to the Marvel Cinematic Universe that will have fans on the edge of their seat.

Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings will be in theaters starting September 3rd.
